Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

"Though Verity Baptist Church’s lease with Harsch Investment Properties doesn’t end until March 31, 2017, the company has asked the church to move immediately without any penalty for breaking the lease agreement, the company said in a statement." (Emphasis mine).
They also made a point of mentioning "like all tenants, their occupancy rights are protected by their leases" meaning they know they can't actually enforce it if the church refuses.

Yeah, but I doubt anyone's going to promise a referendum on the issue here, plus the United States is not the same sort or organization that the EU is. Britain leaving the EU isn't secession. And the actual number of secessionists in the country (even in Texas) appears to be very small. They just are very vocal.

It's not official till in about two hours, but a Remain win, to quote Ramdiel, would be "the Dewey Defeats Truman of the 21st century".
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Like I said in the UK (soon to be minus Scotland) thread; the Leave vote isn't going to magically boost Trump's numbers. Unless the economy crashes and people blame Obama for it, Trump won't benefit from it much.
Besides, his supporters are so nativist that they probably don't care about what happens beyond America's borders if it doesn't involve terrorism or Mexicans.
And the UK isn't leaving the EU right away, that will take time. The economic fallout will not be immediate.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

Any word on when it expires?
