Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Speaking of sick, Trump is getting sued over raping a 14-year old girl and then threatening to kill her, in 1994
.
Not enough poetic justice/karmic retribution in those scenarios. I think, in addition to losing everything he (allegedly) has, he should also suffer a complete mental meltdown and end up in a padded cell, alone and ignored by all, ranting and raving about his imaginary followers and his Trumptopia empire.
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.are RNC delegates allowed to simply abstain from voting for a candidate?
From what I've heard, pledged delegates are counted as voting for who they are pledged to, regardless of who they actually vote or don't vote for. So yes, they can physically abstain from voting, but it is only a symbolic act.
However, if enough delegates want to, they can vote to change the rules before the convention, thus unpledging themselves.

Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company.I mostly just couldn't remember where I'd heard the name Michelle Bachmann before. Now I know who she is I remember Alonzo Bodden often equating her with Sarah Palin in terms of crazy on his podcast.
a condition which causes the afflicted to froth at the mouth at the mention of Barack Obama?

Remember when she wanted Iraq to pay for the Iraq War. Good times.
Donald Trump accuses Jeb Bush of trying to oust him at convention.
How American politics went insane.

This is pretty big news so I had to share it... someone just tried to assassinate Trump.

That is a sick burn. I'm impressed.
