Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

A so-called "Christian" pastor in California praised the Orlando attacks, because the victims were gay.
He's no better than the attacker, as far as I'm concerned.

Also, the last Democratic primary is in Washington DC today. My sense is that it's going to be pro-Clinton.

So O'Riley thinks the USA should "put the fear of god in these people" (ISIS, that is).
I feel like he's Dramatically Missing the Point.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Seems like an epically pointless set of information to steal.
As for O'Reilly, I'm at the point where I turn him off no matter where he appears. Sorry, Colbert, but when you do a Very Special Episode without a monologue, and the first person you have on starts throwing out cherry-picked data to justify why gun control is pointless, I'm out.

Now, now, it's not like it has even entirely worked in all of Europe. Even after the attacks in Paris, most of France does not automatically appear to be ready to elect a President Le Pen, after all — and the relentlessly unpopular President Hollande actually got more well-liked for the duration of the crisis.
