(Vox) President Obama’s huge reversal on Social Security is a big win for liberals
Long story short, Obama's finally given up on the Chained CPI Unicorn of the Mythical Grand Bargain and now calls for expanding social security. And most upcoming Democrats are talking either "keep it as is" or "expand it" as policies. The party's left flank has won on the issue, seemingly, for the moment.
The question is if centrist Democrats will pull a Cuomo if the opportunity to Chain CPI shows itself. (i.e. do it despite earlier promises_)
Speculation: Trump might actually be broke. (As in he has little if any actual salient money.)
Basically Trump keeps on insinuating he has 10 Billion Dollars. It's a lot more likely he has less than 250 million dollars, and he can't actually afford to run a Presidential campaign without megadonors.

The jet may technically belong to a company of his, that or it's things like that which eat up all his money. Meaning he can't fork out for a presidential campaign and also maintain his or his money is all tied up in assets, like the jet.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranI post this article
not so much because of its accuracy, but because its title and tone made me laugh and I thought others might enjoy it.
This
one conversely, is pretty nasty. I'd be curious to see how accurate its predictions turn out to be though.

It's probably all tied up in assets or non-liquid resources.
The basic argument is people don't hawk "[Name] Steaks", "[Name] Hotels" or "[Name] Casino" if they're that liquid in terms of funds of say 10 billion dollars. They don't need to. And previously 12 years ago, Trump admitted he only had 250 Million Dollars. You don't become 10 billion dollars worth when you're rotating door declaring bankruptcy.
I swear I've heard of things before where top Executives and CE Os have fancy limos, eat fabulous meals, etc. But it's all on the company's dime, they actually have few liquid assets or money in the bank of their own.
Basically Trump is Jeffery Lebowski. All the appearance of wealth. But press a finger on the wall, and you find a cardboard cutout.

Anybody seen this effort to sabotage
George Zimmerman's sale of the gun that killed Martin?

Yeah, I've heard speculation that a good chunk of Trump's supposed fortune isn't actually in liquid assets (like cash or stock) or even tangible property (like real estate and private jets), but in his own branding. The Trump name is by itself worth a lot of money because people will pay him to let them use his name for their business — like the whole Trump University thing, which Trump has next to nothing to do with besides letting them call it Trump University in exchange for a cut of the profits.
The problem with this, of course, is that you can't fund a presidential campaign with intangible assets like intellectual property rights. You need liquid funds, and lots of them. If Trump doesn't have them, then he's going to need to get that money from somewhere else — and it remains to be seen whether he can actually run a fundraising infrastructure like the established, career politicians can do in their sleep. And of course, there goes his claims of being independent because he's self-financing his own campaign, but I don't actually expect that to affect his supporters in the least.
It was, but he put it up on another site instead.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien. If Trump was rich, he would have released his tax statements long ago. Instead he's hiding them and the IRS is auditing the last seven years, which indicates that his reports were wrong in some way. This creates a dead easy way to attack him in the general. If it turns out that Trump has been lying about his assets this whole time, that might actually hurt him.
At the least, it'll devalue his brand.

Trump's name brand doesn't even have a determinable value, I'm pretty sure he's admitted that it's whatever he thinks it is.
On top of that Trump isn't actually self financing, he's loaning his campaign money, not donating it or gifting it, loaning it, he's not wanting to come out of this having been cost a penny, so he needs big dinner, or he'll never get his money back, and he does love his money.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranThe 757 does indeed belong to one of Trump's companies, DJT Operations. The 1991-built aircraft was apparently also purchased second-hand
from Paul Allen. Trump does not buy new jets, as the 757 replaced a 727.
@silasw: I tend to agree with what you said in the recent conversation, but could you please stop saying "more then"? It makes your well thought-out messages hard to read and kinds of breaks the effect.

"And as long as a sack of shit is not a good thing to be, chivalry will never die."As it is, he seems to be losing out on all his businesses. Some golf tournament decided to go to Mexico than be held on Trump's property/be in connection with Trump, and some other big thing I can't remember right now is apparently just letting a contract run out or lapse.
This candidacy may very well ruin the precious brand he's spent his life marketing to the public.

And they wonder why right-wingers are so convinced the media is out to get them.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.
