Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I wonder if Kasich will drop out.
And then there were 2.

Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company. At this point, he could do that and it'd still not be enough to slow down Trump. The man has proven himself to be a phenomenon. What arguably started out as a joke ended up with him representing the second most powerful political party in the world.
I must say, I'm starting to feel uncertain about his so-called lack of chances in November. Pray for your soul, everyone.
It is sometimes an appropriate response to reality to go insane.(Buisness Insider) Ted Cruz Drops Out.
It looks like he's officially suspended his campaign. Now it's going to be Trump vs Clinton for sure.
Well, barring Primary shenanigans.
I just thought of something. I get why so many pundits have been shocked by Trump's rise. They keep saying stuff like 'why? His favorability ratings are so low!'
Just because people may not like someone doesn't mean they don't think they are the best person for the job. They might view trump as a raging asshole but as long as he gets stuff done they'll put up with it.
...
Wham Episode doesn't even begin to describe this. Grab your helmets and kevlar vests, everyone, because Cruz dropping out is gonna make this uglier.
"Somehow the hated have to walk a tightrope, while those who hate do not."Morton's Fork, everyone. At this point, I can safely say **** the US!

I'll vote for Kasich in the primary. A Trump-Hillary run is rapidly inducing apathy in me. Trump's an asshole and a bigot, but the whole democratic party won't stop hitting me in the admittingly Single-Issue Wonk areas. I can't in good conscience vote for either.
Leviticus 19:34I've already pretty much reached a Despair Event Horizon. If Hillary gets in over Sanders, it'll be the final nail in the coffin for the US.
Aaaaaaagh.
No. It. Isn't. Hillary. Is. Not. The. Antichrist. She. Will. Not. Run. The. Country. Into. The. Ground.
She is precisely as conservative as Barbara Boxer. She's not going to turn the country into some evil dystopia like everyone thought Romney would. She's going to be fine. If Trump wins, WE ALL DIE.

Kasich will almost certainly follow Cruz out.
