Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

No, Sanders and his campaign managers have come out and said directly that they're making a bid for the supers in lieu of getting a popular majority.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I'll look for it in a bit. It'll be video links.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"They finally identified which planet his ancestors were from? He has ten wives in a secret farm in upstate Montana? He's God's Messenger here on Earth to usher in the Thousand Days of Darkness? He's running for President?
Edit: Oh, that's what happens when you only post a teaser of the article. Current "wisdom" is that he's going to name his VP pick.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"According to some people on Twitter, Fiorina is currently on a flight to Indiana. Obviously not an airtight source, but it would fit in line with expectations.
I wonder if Kasich we'll reveal his running mate before the election.

Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company. If Fiorina is his running mate... man. That's like doubling down on crazy with an extra side order of crazy. I don't see whom he expects to appeal to with her.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Trump voters, he wants to bring in an outsider with business credentials.
This may actually be what super screws the Republicans, if they start picking V Ps based not on who can help them win the general but on who can help them win the primary.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranThey do, but this primary has gotten so close for the Republicans that they need every advtnaage they can get, including a VP candidate that might swing the base their way.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranA statement from the Sanders campaign, it's being taken to be an admittance that he's not going to get the nomination and is just hanging around to let everyone vote and do his best to push for more leftist policies. [1]
So much for a brokered Dem convention.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranHe also said he's work "very closely with our friends in the Muslim world" if elected. Which I guess isn't technically a lie, after all, you can work closely with nobody can't you?
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranIt seems that people are unhappy with the way the economic system currently is, but unsure whether other systems would actually be better. I'm a millennial and still undecided myself about which would work better on the United States.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."I don't think the US could ever function as a unitary state; its too big and too diverse. Some degree of federalism is needed. Of course, the state/federal balance should be questioned; granted I'm not sure if state's rights are the issue beyond some of them wanting to dick over certain groups.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.

I'm still not sure that Sanders is going to broker the convention, he might simply not ask the super delegates to break ranks and accept that Clinton has won.
Has his campaign actually said anything beyond the fact that they're sticking around until the end? Have they said that they're going to try and switch super delegates even if Clinton has more votes then Sanders?
This entire thing seems like something that has been concocted by press that want a race that never ends, Sanders supporters who won't admit defeate and Clinton supporters determined to find a way to make Sanders look as bad as possible.
Maybe he just wants to let everyone vote and feel that their vote matters? Then once all the votes are in he goes "well I got less pledged delegates and less votes, guess I lost, all aboard the Clinton train."
