Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

To answer a rhetorical question:
1) North America has a lot of resources.
2) America entered both World Wars later and was never invaded during these wars, thus losing less in these wars.
3) America draws a lot of immigrants to it, and thus a lot of talented people end up in the US.
4) American entrepreneurship encourages innovation and thus better industry.

Leviticus 19:34And the US back before was not run by clowns.
Also, Fed-up GOP mega-donors sitting on their checkbooks
. Apparently some of them are asking why the money they threw into pro-Bush or pro-Rubio PACs was for naught. One consequence is that Democrats - both Hillary and Sanders - have built up fundraising operations and donor lists that dwarf the Republican candidates' ones.
Obama pushes trade deal during stop in Germany
. As we used to say in Germany, he's trying to peddle acid beer.
That hardly even counts as an invasion as it was one group/plane of very few people that was never even reported until years after the war was over.

Someone finally learned that there's only so much that money can do in regards to politics. I knew the saturation effect would get discovered at some point. The question, of course, is now what are they gonna do since Trump clearly isn't going away?
If the theme of the GOP becomes wealthy candidates self-funding their campaigns, the donor class is going to have a collective freak-out.

They may start continue funding Democrats who are willing to move towards the center-right, in which case one of the two remaining factions (progressive left, reactionary right) is going to become completely marginalized.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"If the money shifts to within the Democratic Party then we may see a shift of some other money. The big donners going to right leaning Dems may mean that left leaning donners, who previously backed right leaning Dems for reasons of practicality, would be able to shift their funding to left leaning Dems.

Wow, Trump really scares those guys, doesn't he?
On empty crossroads, seek the eclipse -- for when Sol and Lua align, the lost shall find their way home.Is Trump a bona-fide fascist, though? He looks more like a populist asshole to me.

Everyone else had even worse clowns running their shows.
