Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

So an activist group in Chicago alleges that they witnessed auditors erase 21 Sanders votes and add 49 Clinton votes in order to force the audit to match the results for the District
, which would be in direct violation of Election law.
I hate when Trump talks about things like increasing taxes on the wealthy because it reminds me that there are some parts of his ideas that I like.
Like, I might actually be willing to consider voting for him if his running mate is an old schoolmarm with a ruler whose job is to thock him upside the head any time he tries to talk about or make policy regarding women and minorities.
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.
Well, he's totally lying about something. It could very well be that his tax plan was put out that as an attempt to reassure the GOP establishment that he's on there side, while he intends to do something entirely different while in office. Which isn't particularly reassuring; Sanders' having extremely consistent rhetoric is a pretty big anomaly when it comes to politicians, but nobody else even comes close to Trump in terms of contradicting themselves.
It's genuinely possible that Trump didn't even read his tax plans.

Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company.President Hillary Clinton would be historic, let's not loose sight of that
Funny how none of these people were saying how historic President Michelle Bachmann would have been back in 2012.
The identity politics over Hillary is ridiculous. I'm Jewish but that doesn't mean I'm gonna vote Sanders just so I can have a Jewish President.
Another blow to the No Trump Movement. No white knight is coming to save the GOP from the orange-skinned menace.

Plus a year in and this is the first article I've seen about this particular subject? *shrug* I don't think anyone wants to beat that particular drum too much.
I was talking about Michelle Bachmannn[1]
, not Sarah Palin.

(Politico) The desperate scramble for Bernie's secret weapon: The fate of Sanders' golden catalog of donors and volunteers — his email list — is the talk of the Democratic Party.
While being oblivious WHY he got all those donors and volunteers. (Something something overturn the system, something something smash the banks).
(NYT) Gov. Terry McAuliffe of Virginia will use his executive power on Friday to restore voting rights to more than 200,000 convicted felons, circumventing his Republican-run legislature. The action will overturn a Civil War-era provision in the state’s Constitution aimed, he said, at disenfranchising African-Americans.
