Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I think I'm just gonna go ahead put this
here, since we're talking about D.C., and this
, since we've now mentioned Guam. I mean, everybody loves 'em some Last Week Tonight, right?
People are calling the District of Columbia part of the south? That doesn't really make sense to me.
Leviticus 19:34How Bernie Sanders Jewish outreach coordinator sparked outrage
Essentially she told Bibi to go fuck himself, and she actually used the word fuck in her post on twitter. The fact that Bernie didn't stand by her seems to indicate that not only does he not particularly care about foreign policy, he doesn't even care about "left wing" foreign policy, or at least he doesn't want to pick a fight over Israel right now.
It's South of the Mason Dixon line therefore it is a Southern state.

I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Jack O Lantern got it right.
Plus I really would not like to be associated with those backwards idiots in the Deep South.
i'm tired, my friendThe Deep South isn't the entire South, you know. Like, I doubt the area around DC is what they think of when they think of that.
But that also doesn't change geographical location.
I had two options back in 2012 some small town in Alabama or Baltimore, none of the people I talked with advised going to Alabama because that famous song would have its riff in the tune of something like "Sweet shit hole Alabama", because it was the really bad part of the American bible belt.

Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company.![]()
Yeah no, the Bible Belt is a terrible place to live in, if my interaction with various American people is any indication.
There's a lot of wretches who seem to think America was made to cater to their particular interpretations of prophecies, and that everyone should submit to Christian moral standards when they themselves only stand for the wrath, destruction and damnation portions.
I can understand why people would not want to be considered part of the South.
Its a place that in the past decided their "right" to own human beings like cattle was important enough to secede over. And then they made every effort to try to make the said human beings as miserable as possible.
It would be like if people beat Hitler's Germany and both let Hitler live and just told him "just don't do it again, Hitler, oh, and you can just run for office again and make whatever anti-Jew laws you want again."

Guam gets the "benefit" of their attempts at getting an actual, proper, VA office shut down repeatedly. Mostly by Republicans. I don't think they would be very red.
