Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

10% of the Ohio votes have been counted so far and Hillary is apparently leading by 67.8% compared to Bernie's 31%. Hillary has already won my county, according to CNN's election map.
Is it too late for me to hold my breath for a shocking Sanders upset?

.
CNN is calling both.
Damn it, I am really hoping for a last-minute upset from Sanders right now.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryOoh, that's gotta hurt Sanders' campaign. He was really counting on Ohio.
Also, bye Rubio. It was [not] nice knowing you.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It is brutally lacking in self-awareness for anyone to call Clinton "old" while ignoring that Sanders is older. And she looks pretty darn good for someone that age. I'd watch her on Golden Girls any day.
I just hope that a lot of Bernie's supporters don't go for Trump. They'd rather see the country burn than see Clinton elected?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"In other Rubio news: Rubio HQ evacuated after powdery substance found in mail.
That's not good...it makes me wonder if this had any bearing on him dropping out.
Expergiscēre cras, medior quam hodie. (Awaken tomorrow, better than today.)@Fighteer: I know I don't intend to back that ****ing fascist if Bernie does indeed lose the nomination. Trump winning the Presidency would utterly destroy this country, and I will vote Hillary to ensure that doesn't happen.

"Cynic, n. — A blackguard whose faulty vision sees things as they are, not as they ought to be." - The Devil's DictionaryListening to Kasich's victory speech in Ohio right now, and regardless of his actual policies, it's actually kind of refreshing.
And I do think it's very fascinating how Kasich and Rubio have emphasized their humble beginnings in their speeches, in contrast to a certain other candidate. But it looks like people are responding differently to the "American Dream."

Sorry, I'm mostly listening to music right now, I didn't put the TV on CNN.
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?
