Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Here's my posting about relevant history in the thread for the day: The paralells between Trump and Andrew Jackson (and why the GOP trying to do an end-run around Trump might end badly)
As for political cartoons, Kelly remains the best in the business.
One guy making a statement is not the same as the KKK literally robo-calling voters with a full message, so yeah, not seeing how this is going to be a significant worry for her at all. There is a scale here of how serious statements are, and this doesn't exactly seem to rate high in my estimation. So unless it somehow gets viral, or repeats the way the stuff with Trump has, I'm not that concerned about it. I think this thread has a tendency to see everything as having the same amount of significance, because we're used to dissecting everything and actively looking for even the smallest bit of information, but realistically not everything is going to have as much importance or coverage. This probably won't require teflon coating of any sort, I don't think most people are going to pay attention to it.
Ditto. I doubt anyone is going to believe this, except the same people who have been regurgitating Clinton conspiracy theories for 24 years already. And none of them were voting for her anyway, so... meh.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |In non-election news, Christian Educators' Association International advises public school teachers on how to spread their faith to their students without running afoul of the rules.
Despite the apparently incendiary statement, the guidelines are actually reasonable - "don't ram your beliefs down your students' throats," more or less. "Don't hide your religious convictions, keep a Bible on your desk, teach students about religion as a class topic, and set a good example by 'godly' living. Exercise your own First Amendment rights while respecting those of the students."
Even as someone who wants religion kept well out of school zones, I can see no problem with this.

Edit: Wow, lack of context page-topper, once again. I'm cursed.
