Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

A Banker, a Crusader, and a Fascist walk into a pub. The bartender turns and says, "Mr. Trump, your usual?"
My Tumblr. Currently side-by-side liveblogging Digimon Adventure, sub vs dub.Don't be so sure. Lack of excitement with Hillary is real and a lot of people going for Sanders will go to Trump or stay home if he loses. And if he wins, a lot of the people who didn't like Trump will bite the bullet and go for him because they honestly (whether or not they are right is a different matter) think Sanders will destroy America.
I'm not sold on this "a lot of people will go home", is there anything to indicate that outside of internet stuff?
But yeah if Sanders gets the nomination the Republicans will push strong, after all "better dead then red".
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranMy main worry is that Sanders fans don't seem to hate Trump with the same intensity that Rubio/Cruz fans hate Hillary.

Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company.Question: do you guys think that Kasich could win Ohio? I only ask because he's my governor, and he's the only Republican candidate my parents can confidently say that they like - they hate Trump, don't like Cruz, and are ambivalent towards Rubio. They're registered Republicans, but they're not hardcore about it, and are more centrist than anything - my mom actually thinks she should switch parties.
Oh God! Natural light!Kasich could win Ohio, but if your parents think he's a moderate, they really need to examine his platform a bit more closely.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Ohio is the only reason Kasich is still in this election. If he can win there than he'll likely get on the Vice-President shortlist.
Ohio is a purple state after all.

Well, in comparison to the other Republicans, they consider him to be.
I think they mainly respect him for at least maintaining some level of decorum.
Really though, they'd rather vote for Clinton.

Oh God! Natural light!Wow, guys, those are... those are some spectacularly bad optics you got there.
What's precedent ever done for us?So, anyone remember the guy that did "2016: Obama's America" as a scare-film in the run-up to the 2012 election? Well, he's at it again with Hillary
, alleging that his [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dinesh_D
'Souza#Election_campaign_finance_conviction arrest and conviction for campaign finance violations (namely giving $20,000 to Wendy Long's campaign in someone else's name and lying about it)]] was politically motivated.
I stopped watching after seeing the Ku Klux Klan used as a smear against the Democrats once again.
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"

Not including those, of course, who will simply stay home.
