Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

RMoney made me think of this old Mad TV sketch.
"Smith Comma John - Human Being for President
"
Tried embedding, but the share for that didn't work for me.

"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"Romney had significant business interests in child torture
. So, y'know, your standard GOP patrician.
Re: Mitt Romney probably running again: I'm reminded of a Gabriel Iglesias routine.
"Hehehe... I knew you'd be back. You miss your sugar daddy."
"Honest question: how would you all rate Romney compared to the other members of the GOP? I wasn't following the 2012 election very closely so I don't actually know that much about him."
Thoroughly mediocre, big business-centric vision for the country, too much of a 1950s whitebread candidate for a diverse America. Wasn't a fan of him as Governor, and I would never vote for him as president, but at least he's not a fascist.
"For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."No candidate has a plan for space exploration.
It seems our space program, died, was buried, and the public just moved on. Kind of depressing really.

Aspen Education is still in business, and Romney's Baen Capital severance package
is still in effect, so the answer to that is probably 'yes'. He was on affectionate terms with the biggest name in the 'troubled teen' industry, Mel Sembler, as recently as 2015
, too.

What's precedent ever done for us?Body Language Experts Offer Insight Into Meaning Of Marco Rubio Loudly Sobbing Throughout Debate
http://www.theonion.com/article/body-language-experts-offer-insight-meaning-marco--52474
Anyone else watching it? Apparently it started with Trump boasting about the size of his balls and Cruz has been trying to became to "Anyone but Trump" candidate, on top of that he almost gave Trump a time out, telling him to not interrupt and to count to ten "it's not complicated".

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Even they realise how crazy this has gotten, with Rubio saying Trump's engaging in yoga and Cruz going "I hope we don't see any yoga on this stage tonight", followed by Rubio saying "well he is very flexible".
I just want Kasich to snap, he's got to at some point, I just want him to turn around go shout "you're acting like bloody children all three of you, can't you be adult for one dam minute?"
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranRubio and Cruz gave Drumpf a very creamy creaming. It was so delicious, you could 'taste the whipped cream bursting out of Drumpf.
But alas, Rubio couldn't stay my favorite of the night for long. He said that the Flint crisis wasn't political, and that Governor Snyder did a very admirable job. Yeaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh...no.
And Kasich danced around the issue of religious liberty. Homophobes need to be stamped out of our society, one way or another, and if you're too scared to say that, then how can I trust your word when you say that you're an accepting person?
Any other, less obvious thoughts?

"Somehow the hated have to walk a tightrope, while those who hate do not."Kasich Is refusing to get into the fight, they tried to lead him to attack Trump on foreign policy and he strait up said he wasn't biting.
Rubio has been good at pointing out Trump's deflections, he's called Trump on it when he refuses to answer questions and simply attacks somebody near him.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ Cyran

I see Romney the way that everyone else sees Clinton: he wouldn't start World War III, but he would let corporations absolutely fuck us over. I would not want to see him win.
OTOH, it might make it even easier for the Dems to beat the Republicans.
