Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Hot dang I would almost feel sory for that attoney the way sotomayor and ginsberg are railing on him if he wasnt a lawyer
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothes
If Faux News can't support Trump, and won't support Rubio, then their options are Cruz or ... what? Stop the dogwhistling and openly support armed rebellion? That will end well.
Watch Fox News choose the most unlikely of choices for their particular viewpoint... Hilary Clinton.
Wizard Needs Food BadlyCruz' big hope is that he either gets to take on Trump one on one, or at least reduces it to he and Trump being the real candidates and everyone else being irrelevant window dressing. Do that and he might prevail. Unfortunately for him, I think it's already too late, especially since Rubio is likely to remain in the mix at least until Florida's primary.
Apparently Rubio's people have the idea that he can be nominated at the convention without having actually won any states by being everyone's boring but familiar and comfortable second choice. Boy are they in for a rude awakening.
Note that Cruz isn't an improvement over Trump at all. If anything he's a sort of proto Trump, the guy who was antiestablisment back before it became cool and mainstream. He's a sneaky, empathy lacking, ambitious piece of crap who'll throw anyone and anything under the bus to realize his destiny of turning the US into a theocratic state.

| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |What I can't figure out is why all these Republicans (Super Pacs included) are suddenly going after Trump this late in the race.
You'd think they'd rally behind the front runner with a good chance of winning.
At this point it seems like a case of chopping your nose to spite your face.
Besides all it'll do is drum up more support for Trump at any rate.
I'm not even a Republican, and I question the reasoning behind it.

Look upon my privilege ye mighty and despair.Because they had Scott Walker, ¡JEB!, Rubio and various other guys they preferred.
Basically Trump had a consistent base Day One, the Donors were chasing their own preferred ponies.
And Trump embodies A LOT of policies the Establishment/Donors HATE HATE HATE (Protectionism, Tarrifs against China, anti-Immirgation from Mexico and Asia, anti-highly skilled Labor, not cutting Social Security or Medicare, etc.)

Didn't take a week: the State Department has found roughly 2,500 Clinton-related documents that were misplaced in other departments when filing cabinets were moved.
Under the new timeline, the department would release documents starting on March 15, with a second release one month later and a final production on May 18, Riess said.

If the Fox empire can't back Rubio, who is it going to support? It's all but declared its permanent antagonism towards Trump, and nobody likes Cruz. Kasich? What a joke that would be.
As the Vox article notes, Obama holds all the cards right now. Grassley and McConnell have laid out their hands; they have nothing left to raise with.
