Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

That article isn't saying that Rubio will "steal" the vote. Maybe the video does, but what Rubio plans is simply to "hope on" in the convention ballot. Not stealing at all.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanThe question is less whether it could than whether doing so is a realistic expectation. The conditions for that kind of growth are possible but grossly optimistic in many people's views.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"It would be seen as a subversion of democracy on national TV by the party elites.
There's no way that flies when Trump has the FOX News demographic. It's effective suicide.

No they didn't, one army general said something that the Telagraph spun to maybe being a coup threat. It wasn't several and it wasn't an actual coup threat. Anyway if you wanna task about the British military we should go to the British politics thread.

Hey, now. Where's your CONFEDERATE SPIRIT?
He's vowing to use his "bully pulpit."
Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company. The Senate actually confirmed an Obama appointee? Has the Sun expanded?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I think Obama pointed toward Sandoval without directly really appointing him to test the waters to see what was popular in his profile and what was reviled. That, and to see what the Republicans would do.
If they approved him, they were clearly voting on party line and partisan cronyism. If they do not approve him, they look like staunch racists going after a Mexican American of their own Party simply because he was appointed by the black guy in office current sitting President and obstructionists full of spite.
All of which they absolutely are. A finely done plan, Mr. President.
What the women who prosecuted OJ Simpson learned about race and justice in America.
I know this is a sensitive subject, but do many people who rallied to OJ's defense regret the stance they took. Or is it ether thought that he was really innocent, or that white Americans deserved just a taste of the injustice they had inflicted on their Black countrymen for centuries, and that one women going without justice was the price that had to be paid for social justice. Nichole's words to her friend are just chilling. Do note I was not alive during the OJ trial, so I may not fully understand what it meant to people at the time, I apologize if I'm acting like an asshole.

[whine] "It's too expensive!" "It's their fault for being too poor to afford it!" "Fiscal responsibility!"
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"There was a survey of long-haul truck drivers, and it was their consensus that the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (my home state) has the worst roads in the nation. Thanks for nothing, Penn DOT.
Although it was similarly agreed that Massachusetts has the worst drivers...
This Space Intentionally Left Blank.Ted Cruz is the man withe the iron heart.
According to what I'm reading, Rubio managed to land some good digs on Trump in tonight's debate, even briefly turn Trump into a bit of a laughing stock, but it's probably still just a matter of holding his own rather than truly winning.

Yeah. It would be the equivalent of the GOP blowing its brains out with a shotgun.
