Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Well, thing is Cruz himself admits to being born in Canada. In other words, Trump can't act like he knows some dirty secret.
Leviticus 19:34I think Trump threatened to take Cruz to court over being Canadian, even. Seriously, have you not been paying attention to Donald Trump?

Wizard Needs Food BadlyFrankly, I think they all know the whole Canadian thing is a bit of a non-starter. And it's more difficult to attack someone over something that they admit, that everyone knows, that they aren't ashamed of, and so far hasn't actually proved to be a legal block to running for president. Trump attacking him over it is petty even for him, and probably one of the least effective things he could do.
So, funny thing about Scalia's death. Michael Savage, radio host notable for being such a prick it got him banned from the UK, has decided that Scalia was probably murdered based on such evidence as the fact that he was found with his pillow over his head instead of under. This is, of course, incredibly bizarre and suspicious, because the idea that someone would sleep with a pillow over their head is simply absurd and totally not something that I myself have done plenty of times without any murder occurring.
Perhaps he was banging his fist against the pillow over his head in mad frustration? Like that scene with the unhelpful psychiatrist in Groundhog Day.
The low levels would go up in a heartbeat, since there would be an excuse and there would be no argument against it. The US stands to lose its bases though, which might not be an acceptable result for the next administration, even if it would be good for everyone involved.

Si Vis Pacem, Para Perkele

Trump has focused on pointing out Cruz's Canadian heritage when he brings Ted Cruz up.
