There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations

before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Trump was boring.
Cruz speech basically boiled down to They Called Me Mad! and how he's gonna stay uber conservative even in the general election and how he is gonna root out the liberals and how eeeeevul they are, yadda yadda. Surprisingly short.
Clinton is also gave a speech, and she's really pushing that she's a progressive, on a level I never really noticed before.
I seriously wonder what this election would have looked like without Sanders (and Trump, though I think someone of his caliber was more inevitable).
There's less than a percent difference between Clinton and Sanders, and that's a death-knell?. I bet you won't be first to think that, but if Clinton was down by the same amount, I highly doubt anyone would make the same claim.

Half of Iowa is a resounding moral victory for Sanders.
Her speech was pretty rousing. Sanders looks a bit strung out.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"I swear I still don't get it. I know Walker is a lightweight empty suit animated by nothing but thinly disguised contempt for all life and the money of the rich, but he was SO much the boy of the Koch brothers and similar company that I'm still surprised he dropped out so early. I could even see him wanting to drop out but being flogged by them to stay in solely because he was such a valuable tool to them. (And a tool in general, but that's another story...)
But the toxic morass of having him in with Trump and Cruz at this point is definitely shudder inducing.
| Wandering, but not lost. | If people bring so much courage to this world...◊ |Walker must not have wanted to fight with the big boys in the playground.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Behind his ear, or in his... behind?
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Remember, folks, Hillary has a gigantic lead in superdelegates, and Iowa was one of Sanders' top three states. Sure, New Hampshire's another big Bernie haven, but the second the campaign swings south, Hillary is going to put her heavy leads in Dixie to work and finish this thing off. Mark my words, by St. Patrick's Day, the Dems won't have a campaign as much as a coronation tour.
Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!
I'm not sure if you are happy or sad about that prospect, but Sanders has yet to unleash the funds he's amassed. He's far from out, and he's got one hell of a populist message. That message needs to be heard.

Am I seeing those numbers correctly, and less than 1,300 Democrat voters caucused in Iowa?
No, those are State Delegate Equivalents, a magical number which is largely correlated with actual votes received based on a complicated system. Nobody keeps track of the actual vote totals in a caucus.
