Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

@ironballs
I don't know if I am wrong but the last poll that had Walker as frontrunner was a june 14 poll by Public Policy Polling. This poll was a fluke though, it seems.
Even then he was always within margin of error of other candidates and the only time he really seemed to have a "lead" was back in April, a narrow lead at that.
EDIT: Also another Poll "Morning Consultant" has Fiorina at 6%. Fiorina's numbers are all over the place ranging from 22% to 6|%

Fiorina sounds cracked whenever it gets to Planned Parenthood, but she knows how to get in front of other issues in such a way that kinda bitchslaps the rest of the GOP candidates. For example, the "Muslim issue".
She's taking advantage of the others hesitation/equivocation. If the others catch on, then she's in trouble (assuming they can debate worth a damn anyway).

You Tube is blocked here at work, so what does the video say? I'd be impressed if Fox News really did say that Fiorina was full of crap about Planned Parenthood, considering that even if all the rest of the media was pointing out falsehoods, the Fox crowd would just simply dismiss it out of hand as "media bias" and refuse to listen.
Haven't seen it myself (not that I'd care to, touches my squick factor a wee bit too much), but according to some nursing acquaintances, the video being hyped is something like footage of a too-premature-to-survive-baby taken for med student purposes or something, and it's being passed off as a "post birth abortion/organ harvesting" video by some shady Pro-Life groups.
I know there have been quite a few organ harvesting cases for babies with Anencephaly or similar conditions where the mothers will carry the child as long as they can in hopes that they can save someone else's baby with the child's organs. That results in very similar scenarios, but not out of malice, but of love.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickFox pretty much said that every fact checker out there has said she's wrong about the contents of the video, she says that they are wrong and haven't seen it. Fox then asks her about all the stuff other than abortions that are part of Planned Parenthood (actually showing how little of what Planned Parenthood does is abortions, with it being shown to largely be stuff like cancer screenings and STD/STI checks) and if they should be de-funded (she says no, but doesn't explain how they would be kept if Planned Parenthood was de-funded). Finally they said that the leader of the biggest pro-life group has said that they need a pro-life President and that shutting down the government over planned parenthood will hurt that by getting everyone who doesn't want the goverment shut down (about 80% of Americans I think) angry at the pro-life candidate.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranYes, but you need to hook the baby up to some sort of sustaining measures because organs decay very quickly after death. It doesn't help the baby live longer in most of these cases, but it does keep the organs healthier so other babies can live.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickCNN saying Fiorina's statement was true but misleading:
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/09/16/politics/republican-debate-fact-check/
I heard Planned Parenthood only performs live abortions and vivisections when they are offering smoking, writhing, bloody paeans to their lord and master Satan every 6th day of a 6th month of a 6th year.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesColbert grills Cruz.
Haven't seen it, but the article described it blow for blow, and it sounded glorious.

Considering how much they hate planned parenthood, that's really saying something.
Look upon my privilege ye mighty and despair.
