Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

If I got it right the GS Es behave like private companies where the government is a major shareholder instead of the defacto administrator, which would be a lot less noxious than having the state and politicians running the thing.
Jorge Ramos was told to get out of America.
I would say I'm at a loss for words, but then I remembered this is unfortunately a common mindset in America, and certainly among some of Trump's followers. I can only imagine how crappy America looks to foreigners based on garbage like this.
Also where is a dissaproving stare by Sitting Bull...Oh! here it is!

It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothes
With insanely left-wing monetary policy, mind you, thanks to German ordoliberalism.
Can you at least keep the Germany-bashing to one thread, please?
If we're doing cultural comparisons, then it's a legitimate point of discussion. And what I said is simple truth, anyway.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Right. Sorry, if I came over as somewhat abrasive, but the discussion in the Debt Crisis thread made me a bit paranoid - also tired because two relatives are moving at the time.
I try to be more receptive.
Krugman's still overrated, though.
We learn from history that we do not learn from history
I'm not the sort to boycott a country's products because I don't like their politics.

As in acting as a patron for genocidal acts by buying products that are used to finance them - e.g. Blood Diamond.
"Why would I inflict myself on somebody else?"(Buzzfeed) Hillary compares GOP's views on women to those of Middle Eastern extremist terrorists.

Honestly, that's kind of unfair.
