Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Kevin Conroy calls out Trump over Twitter saying he isn't Batman.
As the actual antichrist, I deeply resent that comparison.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesIt's possible that Chuck Norris was right and Obama's reelection brought about the End Times. Trump is our first punishment.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Ezra Klein notes Trump's strength might not be a fluke
Basically?
The Republican voters agree with him on Immigration (fuck immigrants) and on Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security (most Republican Voters want to either keep the programs at their current level or improve them and don't give a flying fuck about the Establishment's entitlement reforms.)
Trumps supporters are angry white Southerners and white Detroiters who are too lazy to get actual jobs because they think DA MINORIDEES are just going to take them. They are so whiny about the "loss of the good old days" that they have to make up some bullshit excuse about Trump not being in any politician's pockets and being successful to explain what kind of claim he has to the Presidency.
"Somehow the hated have to walk a tightrope, while those who hate do not."I'll second the fact that the poor have a poor diet partly because it's cheaper. While I joke about being rich, that's because I know how to slash expenses to the bone...and store-brand Coke costs about $.99 a 2-liter, while the same amount of apple juice or milk costs twice as much.
Of course, as has been repeatedly pointed out to me, I do not need the calories in non-diet Coke when my BMI is tipping above 30. That's my own damn choice.
Fruit juice can be as bad as soda. Milk is preferable but it's not as healthy as the milk industry wishes it to be.
Since eating veggies apparently has S-level difficulty. Cut up three kinds of leafy vegetables (the darker the color the better). Cut up tomatoes and carrots.
Boil and blend them with the liquid. Blend (not pulp). You can drink this down in less than a minute. Should cover your daily vitamins and fiber.
Then, you can just drink water and try (not) to gorge on the carbs, fats and protein.
Plants are aliens, and fungi are nanomachines. So lets see where the Republican primaries are at:
Trump: Giving kids helicopter rides and being asked by one of said kids if he is batman (he said yes)
Marco Rubio: Hitting kids in the head with footballs.
Ben Carson: Trying to justify his use of fetal tissue in medical experiments.
Jeb Bush: Being hated by everyone except donors.
Ted Cruz: Beating everyone at the polls, except the other two candidates who might be (and this is a big if) crazier than him.
Rand Paul: Still is unconcious from the knockout punch he received during the republican debate.
Carly Fiorina: Blood currently oozing out of her mouth and her... who knows what. I mean nose.
Chris Christie: Chris who?
Sarah Palin: Its Palin BEACH

Well. You know. The relationship between hypertension and stress, burnout syndrome and plenty of others do come from U.S based studies. Partially because it has the economy to allow such studies, partially because the work schedule is seriously brutal
If I well remember some of the first links came from medical care of one U.S President. Roosevelt? Someone like that.
