Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Thank you Enkufka.
No, we have the option to vote the incumbent president out every presidential election.

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016Third GOP Senator backs gay marriage
And the dominoes continue to fall. Welcome to the winning team, Lisa.
It is. Latest is that Davis mentioned "sonograms" again so the Republicans issued strike 3 for it being off topic, now they're debating if it counted.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen FryTheoretically, there's nothing wrong with the Supreme Court's decision. All they're saying is that, if you're going to apply special restrictions to states, it has to be based on information that isn't 40 years out of date. All this decision should mean is that Congress will have to update its list of states under extra voter law scrutiny based on more recent data.
However, that depends on Congress being able to pass new legislation that's likely to upset the angry old bigot voting bloc, and the odds of that don't look too promising.
They're trying to decide whether the vote took place before or after midnight. If after, then it's an illegitimate vote since the session ends at midnight. Dems say yes, Repubs say no.
Being a blue state transplant in Dallas right now, I'm really hoping that the Republicans don't get away with being squirrelly fuckers over this.
Well, it seems like it was really close, so no doubt the Republicans will try to fudge it. I mean, I don't know if the clock in Austin is ten minutes ahead of the one I'm using or what, but it took them forever to get the crowd to stop and I don't know if that slowed things down or not.
Also hey, you live near me!

Not an answer. I will rephrase question.
How long should a president rule if there are no term limits?
