Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It shouldn't be, but it is.
Both Johnson and Clinton's impeachments were really based around Congress not liking the President.

Serocco, lets just assume that you can get Obama impeached over something. And Then What??
I'm seriously interested in what you assume would happen long-term after it?

"You can reply to this Message!"You can't run for office if you're not able to raise at least 2,000 dollars each day - if you're in the House. Senators raise 14,000 on average every day. Politicians quite literally spend most of their time fundraising, which is why they're so BLEH half the time on topics.
Apart from selling yourselves out to corporate interests, or being born with that kinda money, none of us can run for office. The voting system is made to the point where we're forced to pick the lesser of the evils. What am I supposed to to? Wolf-Pac.com?

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Clinton was the best we had for a while too, and I can't get passed what he did to Al-Shifa.

It won't do anything if we only remove Obama. It has to be a systematic thing. Like, a complete demolishing (metaphorically) of the current system is the only real way to change it, since money is God to everybody with authority.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Al-Shifa wasn't his fault. He made the best judgement call he could on the information he had. He's not a biochemist. He had to trust that the intelligence people knew what they were talking about. They didn't, but that doesn't mean Clinton did the wrong thing.
Reality is that, which when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away. -Philip K. DickNot really.
Let's face the facts by this standard Truman (Korea), Johnson (Vietnam), Reagan (Grenada), George H. W. Bush (Panama & Iraq), Clinton (Yugoslavia, but this one is debatable) and George W. Bush (Afghanistan & Iraq) should have all been impeached.
For better or worse, America no longer goes to war. Now we participate in "police action"

So why bother wishing you could impeach him?
Best case business as usual, worst case President by the grace of God Rick Santorum.
If you know it won't do anything it comes across not any better than your average uninformed Tea Party wackjob.

"You can reply to this Message!"Because I wanted to see how many people will rally to his defense by bringing that up. Trying to call out hypocrisies. How many times have people supported Obama when they opposed Bush over the same thing?
Speaking of Rick, I find it funny how Santorum is very close to "sanatorium", a type of church.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Serocco has accumulated his final strike for being a Single-Issue Wonk in this thread and for picking fights via PM. He will not be participating in OTC any longer.

It's interesting how that particular bit of hypocrisy works both ways. But not everyone does it.

That seems a tad harsh.

Explain how there's a good precedent before calling me insane, paranoid or ignorant, otherwise you'll look like you're operating under character assassination.
