Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Apparently the Miami Police have those small drones — and those can fit in a backpack and be controlled from a Laptop. Serocco, I'd guess the ones you see are probably examples of the unarmed MQ-9 Reaper
owned by Customs and/or Homeland Security, for Border Patrol and Drug Interception.

Keep Rolling OnLike I said, until an innocent family on US soil is publicly murdered by drones, no one is going to give a damn. Most people don't give a rat's ass about Pakistan, and are unlikely to. Pakistan is seen as "getting what's coming to them", due to the vast swaths of territory hosting terrorists and militants.
Also they have a positive image because it means less soldiers getting killed, and if there's one thing that angers Americans, it's soldiers getting killed.

Hamas has drones. Armed drones.
Who's to say they won't attack Israel eventually? Putting aside the defense dome, if Hamas uses a drone to attack it, someone will report it.
There will come a time, not too long from now, that people will lambast drones more frequently, but only because it'll affect themselves. Israel (an ally) getting attacked is one such a scenario.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Of course, Palestine won't "get what's coming to them", because both Hamas and Likud are built on the idea of conflict with one another.
Sure, people will call for death to Palestine if they use drones to attack Israel, but it's just rhetoric. Hamas and Likud don't want to lose their leverage over Palestine and Israel.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.I'm not sure Hamas has much leverage over Pakistan — those that do are the US, China and the Gulf States. Quite a lot of a "Taliban" in the North of Pakistan are probably the exact same Tribes that even The Raj couldn't get under control, no doubt influenced by outsiders*.
Keep Rolling OnPalestine has an image problem. Again. They house terrorist cells of their citizenry. (I understand the complexities of what's going on). But here's the thing: Israel is seen as squeaky clean despite all its bullshit. Palestine is regularly viewed (at least through an American hawk lens) as being the bad guys.
I'd say Rove's on the ball. More uncompromising, ideologically pure Republicans are going to be the party's death as the current generations of youth keep pouring in.
Now if his suggestion is to "repackage" things, then :V Well. Republicans in government seats aren't getting why minorities and the youth are so mad at them.
Well, technically conservatives can still win elections... namely conservatives in Reagan's mold. The problem is that right now the Democrats are closer to Reagan's mold than the Republicans are.
You remember Barney
, right? The Bush family Scottish Terrier (along with Miss Beazley)?
It's old news, but Barney died of Lymphoma (blood cancer) earlier this month.

Didn't Ronald Reagan originally start out as a Democrat? Anyway, here's an interesting quote from Reagan:
Looks like it's back.

Keep Rolling OnThe Overton Window was successfully moved by Republicans starting in the 80's. Reagan, whether he realized it or not, was the figurehead.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

I take the position that, if it keeps the world safe and security is upheld against agents promoting chaos, then it can be said to be necessary. I don't enjoy the idea, nor would I find such overreach likable normally.
