Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Historical scholars generally put Washington, FDR and Lincoln at the top. The bottom rungs generally go to Pierce, Buchanan, Johnson and Harding. William Henry Harrison also, but since he died in 30 days, it's a tossup on whether he counts.
Other presidents near the top include Truman, Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt and Eisenhower.
What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly.I still way Wilson owns the bottom rungs.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Policy wise FDR is my top guy.
Who was that president that attacked an assassin? And then the Secret Service had to pull him off of the gunman? I like that.

The usual screaming and hollering. Did you know, however, that it is illegal for the Centers for Disease Control to conduct research into gun violence
?
@Belian: Out of the ones he signed, I don't really have a problem with any of them.

Wiki it. You will find more than you ever wanted to know about every president the US has had and it will likely be more accurate. If those pages are not watched/cared for, I don't know what would be.
