Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I'm with Representative Keith Ellison (D-Minnesota). Lets start allowing competitive bidding with Medicare Part D prescription drugs. That saves about 100 billion.
If you want to cut something, lets cut the oil, gas and coal subsidies. That saves at least another 100 billion. Lets cut the bloated defense industry, which the sequester was supposed to do (Obama flat-out said that it will not happen with him).

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016That could all be part of his Evil Plan. Make himself seem harmless so that when he does something awesome, everyone is caught by surprise.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Before Al-Jazeera made there offer, Glen Beck had tried to buy Al Gore's Current TV
It's like they can't catch Obama saying anything wrong all that often, so they go after the guy who continually tells off color jokes.
They broadcast in a lot of countries that aren't America, but due to the name they probably are going to have a hard time being trusted here. But I trust that Current TV is dedicated to facts in general, and it seems like right now they'll keep to that. *shrug* We'll have to see what happens. Current TV is far to the left of all other news channels.
Also loling at Glen Beck trying to buy it. Like Al Gore would ever sell that tool.

In fairness, Biden makes it so easy.
Al-Jazeera has some biases, but generally speaking you could say it's usually reliable. With some topics you can expect to see one-sided reporting - for instance, when they talk about the Israel-Palestine conflict they don't tend to dwell on the crimes of the pro-Palestine movements as much as they do on those of Israel. If you watch al-Jazeera and something else I think you'll see at least two sides of just about any question.
This is off-topic but since some of you don't seem to be familiar with al-Jazeera I thought it might be a good idea to talk a little bit about them. If you read up on how al-Jazeera was created and by whom and to what end (Wikipedia has that stuff) you can probably make an educated guess about how al-Jazeera is going to go about running Current TV.
Whatever criticism I might say of al-Jazeera I'd take them rather than Glenn Beck as the owners of an American network any day of the week.
Quod gratis asseritur, gratis negatur. One should trusth Al Jaazera whenever they report something regarding Qatar or any country thats too similar to it.
But then once again, the same is true of CNN and the BBC.
Of all the 3 is probably the best, most informative, and more accurate news source.
I will always cherish the chance of a new beggining.Actually now that I remember there was a very heavy campaign to have Al Jaazera banned from the United States... and it worked.
Also the Americans bombed the Al Jaazera headquarters in Kabul, and then again Baghdad during the invasions, "accidentally", do they had been provided with the coordanates weeks prior.

Twice, by accident of course. Actually...
Heres a video of American helicopter shooting (killing) Reuters reporters.
This video was leaked by Bradly Manning (who has since been tortured) with the help of Asange (now trapped in the Ecuatorian embassy do to the british disregard for his politcal assylum)

I wish news outlets were reporting on this. I believe it costs around 2 million dollars every time congress votes so they've wasted over 60 million on this bullshit.
