Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Let's face it, Obamacare is causing a deep, ideological and practical change. There's probably tons of companies we weren't thinking about before that are trying to wiggle out of this. And if we refuse to shop at any of them.... we wouldn't be shopping at all. Boycotts aren't quite effective in this case, but voting to change laws and maybe letter campaigns to the CE Os of the companies in question might be more so. *shrug*
Eh, Dominoes pizza sucks and its overpriced. Pizza Hut is also overpriced but at least its good. I still prefer to buy from the local places though.
On topic... do they really think they can win that case?
Rush, as usual, needs to shut up. And didn't he promise to move to Costa Rica or something if Obama won?
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.Dominoes isn't pizza,it's always been a hack attempt at pizza, sort of like Mc Donald's is a hack attempt at a burger,or Taco Bell is a hack attempt at a taco.
But that's just how big box stores are, hacks at whatever they try to sell with few exceptions.
So it's no surprise that the hack franchise supports the hack political party.
Just my two cents though.

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016![]()
Same myself.
Also, I live in Atlanta. I can't walk out my door without tripping over a Chik-Fil-A. Truett Cathy personally came to my high school once. disagreeing with his and his sons' politics has not stopped me from eating their tasty chicken.

"The marvel is not that the Bear posts well, but that the Bear posts at all."Hot damn, does the Huckster ever think about what he says? Way to insult everyone who doesn't follow your faith and everyone who does by virtue of implying God is some malevolent force that invites destruction the moment he isn't sufficiently appeased. That's not even getting into how much of a disgusting opportunist he is for relaying religion on a tragedy that has absolutely nothing to do with that.
I'm glad people are arguing about this. If this kind of drivel is the best these people can come up with, I can understand why the "never regulate guns in any way ever" crowd never wants to talk about this. This is just pathetic.

Not really.
if some black kid got shot in the inner city. theyll get maybe 5 seconds of airtime, a fake frown of sympathy from the news anchors, then be forgotten.

I had a sister's friend say the same ridiculous shit. I responded. She never replied. I've also had people insist that if the teachers had guns, this wouldnt have happened, completely ignoring the tiny problem that most people arent lethal crack shots when someone walks into a room with a gun, no matter how many hero power fantasies you have.

Midgetsnowman: Indeed. If a man busts into your classroom with a gun you're not going to have time to get yours out of the closet and aim before he shoots you. If you have it on your person at all times that's just asking for some crazy kid to grab the thing and shoot you and his entire class. Arming the teachers would make shit worse!
edit: Even better. What if the teacher goes off their meds?
edited 15th Dec '12 3:01:25 PM by Kostya
@Kostya: I can think of 3 problems, actually.
1: the teachers need military training to not cracvk under extreme pressure situations so they can think clearly enough to use the gun.
2: they need some magical way to easily access the gun that wont endanger their class
3: they need someone to pay for training every single teacher in the nation.
In short. its unfeasible outside far-right gun toting heroics fantasy.

I prefer Pizza Hut.
Dominos pizzas are eh and their commercials stink of desperation to look hip.
