Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Your post didn't have any links.
Don't know about the earlier one though, since I don't think I was here for it :P
Scarborough works for MSNBC right? So he may be a millionaire, but he's one as a sort of semi-celebrity. Those guys tend not to be the carried interest types. He probably pays a 30% tax rate. Well, maybe 20 to 30 effective tax rate.

Scarborough had marriage issues prior to his resignation, last I heard.
There was also Imus throwing that "you had sex with your intern and had to kill her" curveball.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Scarborough resigned less than three years after the Lewinsky scandal/Clinton impeachment. I imagine the joke was made in reference to that, especially if he had marital issues.
I'm not saying a Florida congressman can't get into some dark, dirty shit. Florida's a screwed up place. I'm just saying the murder story is out there and has more holes than substance.
I wrote about a fish turning into the moon.Scarborough resigns only six months after re-election, just prior to his aide's death. The reason he gave: amid rumors of marital infidelity, the recently-divorced husband wants to spend more time with his sons.
The man who did the autopsy on the intern was Michael Berkland, the same guy who had his medical license revoked on another state due to falsifying autopsies. Berkland had contributed thousands of dollars to Scarborough's election campaign.
Even if you express doubt at the idea that Scarborough was the murderer, the medical examiner of his aides' corpse is far from the most trustworthy guy. His connection with Scarborough via campaign donation is suspect, as well.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.Serocco, you're being obtuse. You're saying "Oh hey guys, this guy, you know, murder maybe?" and then you also say "GEEZE WHY DID NO ONE PICK UP ON MY POST ABOUT THIS GUY BEING A MURDERER GAWD."
It's like when Glenn Beck says "Is Obama a secret muslim Kenyan terrorist? I don't know. That's why I'm asking the question!"

What I do know about Scarborough is that he thinks it's "immoral" to tax billionaires by a paltry 15% tax rate.
Paying 15% of your taxes is concerned immoral to you, Joe? When you're a millionaire, who's more than capable of paying that amount? Really?

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl. You can always say that directly instead of baselessly accusing someone of being a murderer.
This situation... is not something that really caught our interest? I hesitate to call anyone a murderer unless there's actual evidence beyond dying in someone's office.
Which is not that surprising since a lot of Republicans agree with him. I don't know why you're acting so surprised at this point.

I don't know anyone of note who's seriously pursued that story other than Michael Moore. So, I dunno how credible it is.
Also, in that article Scarborough said it was immoral for millionaires to pay a 15% tax rate because it's too low compared to what small business owners pay. You're taking that statement way out of context.

Either MSNBC employs four people, or Joe was not talking about himself...
While we're on the topic of taxes, there's been a stalemate regarding the Fiscal Cliff talks
.

In RWBY, every girl is Best Girl.I really don't get it here. Republican side wants to simultaneously avoid the fiscal cliff and the tax raise on the richer Americans. That's not reasonable right now. It looks like Republicans will be hit hard from this. Democrats seem to be willing to accept all Republican proposals while including their own at the same time; they're not blocking a proposal.

You don't know who Joe Scarborough is?
Well, this should answer your question. He once said that it is "immoral" for richest Americans to pay %15 tax rate
. Coming from a millionaire himself, no less.
