Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

I would add that, even without the liberal knowledge of this thread, there is a really simple factor that would make be choose Obama. He's been a decent president that kept things stable, and has more work to get done. In contrast, Romney hasn't really offered anything in particular that I wanted. Even before getting into why he was worse, no convincing reason why he was better.
"When there's an incumbent no one wants to vote for, and a challenger that no one wants to vote for, people will vote for the incumbent. At no point did Romney give people any reason to vote for him, and so they didn't.""
"He couldn’t offer a single sensible reason why the economy would perform better under his watch, and he simply refused to provide a tax plan that added up."
Those basically sum up what I think.

I really don't know what to say to that because it's just over the line. That's just feeding into the hatred that even GOP politicians are starting to drop after concession. It's just not a proper conduct towards fellow Americans.

Theres his original post.
He really did advocate a total boycott and absolute hatred of all democrats for the rest of his life, including counselling you quit any jobs run by a liberal, divorce/break up with any women you were dating who voted for Obama, or shitting on your neighbor's lawn if they voted for obama.
Also apparently every time he sees someone use an EBT card he proceeds to rant about how he works for a living right in front of the person using welfare.

Okay I just thought of one way that thing could screw him over.
What if he ever finds himself in court and the prosecutor and judge are both Democrats? Logically he can't talk to them but if he doesn't he'll be imprisoned on obstruction of justice. Honestly the man is a lunatic and I frankly wouldn't want to talk to him if he's going to behave like a spoiled child.

I tend to get most everyone as being ignorant of economics, or just being a Single-Issue Wonk regarding abortion.
Hello Eric Dondero, as a fellow American semi-disappointed that Obama was reelected, as a Republican(ish), and as a citizen of the United States.....
Shut. The. FUCK UP!...You fake-ass, bitch-ass disgrace to self-respecting right-wingers everywhere.
Thank You. Sincerely, the Starship Maxima
It was an honorI hope he tries that welfare shit just so people can beat the crap out of him.
Hugging a Vanillite will give you frostbite. He doesn't have to talk. He can invoke the 5th amendment and look away.

Ow. Even Reagan's son is saying the GOP sucks and is venerating his father without being like his father. Nasty.
