Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Obama is apparently in the building and should be speaking soon. any news on bachmann?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? In 2016, the GOP will enter having won the popular vote once in 28 years
Don't you mean 24?
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's Play@Serocco: Yeah, obviously. Because the Republicans actively pushed them away.
But honestly, a good politician could have won the Latino vote this election. All it would take is a few changes on immigration policy and some speeches in Spanish.
Except for 4/1/2011. That day lingers in my memory like...metaphor here...I should go.Okay, fun poll time;
Did anybody do a Write-In, and if so, did they do it for a random choice(not somebody realistic, but not a fictional person). I put Dan Green into the last slot. Anybody else do a funny write-in?
Quest 64 threadI know someone who says they wrote in Bill Clinton. Personally I think it's important to vote Obama, even in a state where it doesn't matter.
Blind Final Fantasy 6 Let's PlayUltrayellow: Latinos are not one solid block of voters. . Cubans are not Mexicans are not Puerto Ricans are not Salvadoreans and so on and so forth. Mexicans for one are noted to vote Democrat, particularly here in Texas where all the districts that bored Mexico apparently are very blue. Cubans probably vote Republican due to issues with communist Cuba, and that could change down the line. Particularly if we ever (and we're going to have to, eventually) drop the embargo on Cuba.
@storyteller: Well, I'm hoping they did that for one of later ones. Mostly because a joke vote does not help Obama win. It's funny for the rest, possibly.

Anyone looking for a laugh should go and read Free Republic. I love the smell of Conrage in the morning...smells like...victory.
A surprisingly profound comment from them, however. In 2016, the GOP will enter having won the popular vote once in 28 years. I think someone needs a new election strategy...no more Southern racists left, so who is going to be the GOP's new target demographic? Or will they collapse (fingers crossed).
