Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Huff Po and the BBC both seem to be really slow on the uptake. CNN has Obama ahead of Romney by about 14,000 votes in Florida with 82% reporting in so far.
I'm having a heart-attack over this, and i'm in decent shape, too... FL, please don't be stupid.
Keep it up, Obama, please.

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioIf no candidate has a 1% lead in Florida, it triggers a re-count.
If Obama takes Ohio(and Colorado, Nevada, or Iowa), a Florida re-count doesn't matter.
If Romney takes Ohio, Florida is key for the election.
Ohio's results are more important than Florida's at the moment...

Aiieee the House! Please flip please flip...
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.New Mexico and Colorado are now leaning Obama (Huff post). Combined with the current (for like 5 minutes max) Obama lead in Florida this is enough (with the west coast) to give him a 2nd team.
Edit: Should be clearer, I'm counting all the leans, includding Ohio.

Only 38%, at last check.
Important sidenote: Anyone know if these numbers are taking early voting totals into account? My first impression that they aren't, but I'm not entirely sure.

GM: AGOG S4 & F/WC RP; Co-GM: TABA, SOTR, UUA RP; Sub-GM: TTS RP. I have brought peace, freedom, justice, and security to my new Empire. If Romney takes Ohio, Florida is key for the election.
Although if Obama takes Colorado, Nevada, and Iowa, and Romney get Ohio, then Obama wins with 272 electoral votes and Florida still doesn't matter.
