Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

even without florida, the fact most of the other battleground states have a 3-5% obama poll advantage is a very worrying sign for the Romney campaign if it pans out to votes.
if Oba,a sweeps the other battleground states and misses out on Florida, this campaign is over and done.

Florida, Pennsylvania, Ohio and New Hampshire are all on Eastern time, so we should get their results first. As for the mention of the Indiana senate race, remember that Gary and its surrounding urban area are in Central time, so their polls may not close at the same time... I don't know.
Oh those Chicago commuters...
The BBC's Jon Sopel tweets: "Obama workers in Richmond, Virginia, tell me turnout unbelievably high in black neighbourhoods. Poss 75-80%"
This is good news.
Pennsylvania Republicans Claim Obama Mural is Suppressing Their Votes
what?
The Pennsylvania Republican Party claims that the mural is somehow suppressing GOP voters.
WHAT?
Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016@British tropers:
This post of mine
should contain something helpful to the Britons out there wondering when to expect results.

Ohio being so defiantly Obama is a very good thing, especially for the superstitious - no Republican candidate has ever won the election without the State. Ohio and Virginia both going to Obama (any word on the latter?) means the ground shrinks massively beneath Romney's feet.
