Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Yeah... I don't see the issue...
The law says that the onus is on the voting official... But all they have to do is write on the back of the provisional ballot "no ID submitted, don't accept" and the vote doesn't count anyway(you get a provisional ballot if you can't "prove" you're the person on the voting rolls, or are in the wrong precinct in Ohio)...
If a voting official is going to discount a vote because a person didn't fill out that form, they would have done the above anyway... So, again, I don't see the issue...
In other news: As per the Redskins Rule
, Mitt Romney is the 45th President of the United States.
Just accept that it isn't because of things like "voter suppression" and move on.
Because no Republicans would vote to remove him and they probably need them to get enough votes to do this.
The rule was broken once before in the Bush election. However, if you change it to referring to the popular vote it has predicted every single one. Romney winning the popular vote is a very real possibility.

The redskins win/loss doesn't mean a candidate wins the popular vote. It means they win the electoral vote.
I'm not sure if you read the link... The rule is:
I'm just saying don't be surprised if/when Ohio, Pennsylvania, and/or Wisconsin are called red Tuesday night...

There are also five other coincidental things that seem to predict the election.
The other five all point towards Obama.
Supposedly Obama masks sold better. It's 4-1 in favor of Obama right now. Vigo, Indiana has yet to make a comment.

Wizard Needs Food Badly
To be fair, Reagan broke the curse, though he very nearly died due to an assassination attempt.

Wizard Needs Food BadlyChristie: I support Mitt; critics don't get the destruction
Yeah, I mean, with the infinite number of "Things" out there, there's inevitably going to be an infinite number that line up, no matter how infinitesimal the chance of any ONE thing lining up may be.
Although... that doesn't really explain why a phenomenon would continue to hold after already having been observed, at least for a prolonged period of time.

I'm not sure how on-topic this is but I've watched 2016: Obama's America because my dad brought it home, him being the only Republican of the relatives I know the political stance of. Seriously, my grandmother is a stanch Democrat and I'm effectively a Democrat because I see the Republicans as a much worse choice.
There were a few times when I had just wanted to shut it off, but at the end when they predict what four more years of Obama would do was when it got too... stupid for me. Because it thinks Obama's going to get anything done when I know the Republicans had been blocking him on practically everything in terms of policy and are still likely to control the House and can filibuster the Senate.
