Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Americans, because clearly we are God's chosen saviors and it is our duty to shine a beacon of light upon the poor godless socialists and Muslims that spread hatred of morals and worship of the Devil.
So now she's Joan of Arc? Does she know what happened to Joan of Arc?

Incidentally, Joan of Arc is the only person yet to be burned as a witch and then declared a saint.
That's not the most remarkable achievement of a saint, though. To become a saint, you have to be proven to have performed a miracle. When the Church was desperate to canonise Thomas Aquinas, they came up with this (according to QI:)
Sorry for the off-topic. I just wanted to share a funny, hoping it wouldn't start a derail.

"You can reply to this Message!"It sure pales to Saint Val, who toppled a dictator, invented cold fusion and got nookie from Elizabeth Shue.
I'm a skeptical squirrelI remember that episode.
Another saint put her cape down and it grew to cover a hill where she built a church I think.
She also could turn used bath water into beer.
Hurricane Sandy helped Obama politically, Karl Rove says
I think he might be right.
Mitt Romney At Stanford University: Classmates Recall Republican Candidate In College

Everything is Possible. But some things are more Probable than others. JEBAGEDDON 2016I think rove is right as well. Mainly because it made Obama look incredibly good and Romney like the out of touch sociopath he always appears to be.
Very big Daydream Believer. "That's not knowledge, that's a crapshoot!" -Al Murray "Welcome to QI" -Stephen Fry![]()
That's a crushing defeat? It's pretty much one large state more than Romney has. A crushing defeat would be something akin to the 2008 election where Obama had almost twice the amount of electoral votes as Mc Cain.
Does RCP weight their averages differently or something? They're a lot closer according to them.
PA is actually a battleground state if recent polls are to be believed.
