Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

So wait, Obama has a weather machine now that he's using to create Hurricane Sandy? HE'S NOT A SUPERVILLAIN!!!
Wizard Needs Food BadlyHas someone claimed Obama is actually responsible? That makes no sense; incumbents normally lose points in the short term for natural disasters.
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects. You know this brings up an interesting point. Who do conspiracy theorists vote for? I don't mean casual theorists with one or two silly beliefs. I mean the-moon-landing-was-faked-by-nazi-aliens nuts?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? There are more nonnative speakers of English in China than in North America and Europe combined. Worldwide, second-language and forerign-language speakers of English outnumber native speakers by over three to one.
Back on topic, I can't help but think that Obama's response to Hurricane Sandy will determine the election.
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this.So I just got back from a speech/rally/thing with Gary Johnson in support of Amendment 64 here in Colorado which will legalize and regulate marijuana in the state. It was cool. He talked about the issue of the War on Drugs, for awhile, but, eventually, he made a big speech in support of his campaign, then a long question and answer session. I was the last person to ask a question. I asked him what I could practically do, as a voter, to help support third parties and help tear down our current two party system. His response was to vote for third party candidates and raise awareness among your friends, family, and neighbors. I also managed to shake his hand (twice, in fact), introduce myself, and have a short chat with him. It was very cool.

I now have the strangest compulsion to photoshop a picture of Barack Obama onto Poseidon.
I wonder who Romney would be.
