Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Donnie drank too much covfefe and thus is too hyper to join them.

Dan Crenshaw helped plant envidence to smear the credibility of a military rape veteran.
Dan Crenshaw is evil incarnate. He thinks that because he's a veteran that lost an eye, that everything he says is a moral absolute. Just today he talked about "The Left" as if they're an enemy to be fought and not roughly half of the countries political alignment. Truly disgusting individual.
Just Having FunOh, sweet, sweet MAG At tears. As I suspected, the Trumpian base immediately accused the SCOTUS of being compromised by the deep state of whatever and are now calling for civil war or martial law.
Fucking pathetic, these "don't tread on me" folks.
Scaled seeker"Fuck your feelings", amirite?
Seriously, though... economically and politically the rest of the U.S. would be better off if a large chunk of the red states seceded, and those states would be a third-world country. Of course, it would be unstable and probably bleed refugees, so probably better not to.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"![]()
More than they already are? Let me be clear: I don't support this for a variety of reasons. But the people calling for it are really not thinking their positions through.
I'm not sure how that follows. If they can't control their states now, why would they be able to after this secession?

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"How ironic(/moronic) how, before the election, it was the MA Ggots who were the ones stockpiling guns and ammo as "preparation for self-defense" once (in their heads) they fully expected the Democrats to "reject the election results and start a civil war" once Trump "won the election again".
Big surprise, turns out that the MA Ggots were doing the standard projection of their own intentions again.
...
Out of curiosity, what would happen if the MA Ggots and the Trump Death Cult tried to secede from the United States?

More than likely they'd be gung-ho about it at first until the bullets started flying. Some will still go along with it after that due to a combination of blind devotion and sheer hatred for the other side but some will quickly lose this bravado when their safety is put in danger.

Is it weird I feel like this is the kind of logic that led to partitioning nations in the British Empire and what a HORRIBLE idea that proved to be?
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.@shaoken: pretty much.
As the saying goes, "Talk is cheap."
Actually doing something that involves risking your own ass will have a lot less volunteers. Especially when it's blatantly obvious you don't stand a chance in hell of succeeding, i.e. the fact that the SERVING Military (and National Guard) are at least 80% Biden supporters. Not necessarily Democrats, but they voted for the guy who hasn't been plainly insulting them half his life.

And again I'm reminded of the subgenre of conservative speculative fiction about "the liberals" refusing to cede power after they lose an election and using violent means to hang on to their power. Who would've guessed that would come close to happening, but championed by the conservatives? (Other than people familiar with "projection" and the right's tendency towards it...)
Anyone who's aware of the dumpster fire that is Republican ideology?
We learn from history that we do not learn from history@nova92: The Military vote was 4:1 in favor of Biden when it came in. Add to that his deceased son was a decorated national guardsman, and Biden himself didn't try to dodge the draft, unlike a certain orange asshole we all know who paid someone to fake bone spurs. Joe just couldn't serve due to asthma making him unfit for duty.
As for Trump insulting the Military... literally listen to him to any time it comes up in a debate.
