Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

What do the pro-Tammy Baldwin ads look like?
Share it so that people can get into this conversation, 'cause we're not the only ones who think like this."When Romney was governor of my state [...] Massachusetts plummeted to 47th out of 50 in job creation."
Game, set, match. If Obama says that convincingly, he will win the election.
Or he can just point out that Romney flat-out DOESN'T have a plan to create 12 million jobs
.

Well if we will gain 12 million jobs if we do nothing, that could be exactly what he's aiming for. Technically still a plan after all.
And the job creation point is moot, Massachusetts has a fairly decent unemployment rate, if people have jobs you don't exactly have to create them. That point would be walking straight into a rather obvious trap.
As for Kerry to me it seems to be somewhat of a scare tactic in order to gather up more donations, it's a pretty common strategy on both sides.

Bet you didn't see that coming
Keep the optimism up and remiind people this is what Romney wants to do, and we'll be alright. Got it!
Not that easy... But, okay.

This is where I, the Vampire Mistress, proudly reside: http://liberal.nationstates.net/nation=nova_nacioI know third parties don't really do much, but I don't even recall another of its kind,...so if I can get it,I'll do it for novelties sake.
The fact that most swing states are practically lost or could easily flip,it just doesn't sit well with me. And that the fact that he lost the good lead.I'd rather get all possible disappointments out now that way,the better outcome feels earned or if we do have President Romney,I'll have already shifted gears, while the rest of the Echo Chamber vent.
I'll take pessimism now than have all optimism crushed.

was this in Wisconsin, by any chance? Because we had one at a salon across the street (I think) from a mall.

I didnt but it's slowly turning that way. I mainly blame the low income housing thats REALLY poorly policed. from what I've heard, it's technically private property so the police can't just patrol. Also, a good portion of the others at my school are on drugs.

I'm baaaaaaackSo So just too keep everyone on tabs with the Senate Races:
The Democrats currently have 51 Senators
The Republicans currently have 47 Senators
There are 2 Independent Senators (Lieberman and Bernie Sanders)
And 33 of the 100 Senate seats will be up for grabs this election
So far it looks like The Democrats are going to certainly win/keep 12 of the Senate seats (California, Delaware,Hawaii, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Rhode Island, Washington, and West Virginia)
The Republicans are going to certainly win/keep 5 of the Senate seats (Mississippi, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Wyoming)
And Bernie Sanders is going to keep his Seat in Vermont.
Which leaves 15 Senate Seats up for grabs (9 Democrat seats, 5 Republican Seats, and Joe Lieberman's independent seat.)
(i)=incumbent
Blue = Democrat, Red = Republican, Green = Independent
