Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

"Yo Dawg, I heard you liked Biden, so I put Biden inside another Biden so you can Biden while I Biden!"
Watch SymphogearAP News: Census takers say they were told to enter false information
At the time, in mid- to late September, census workers were drawing close to a deadline imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration to finish the count by the end of the month.
A judge ruled that the count could continue through the end of October and that census officials could continue crunching the numbers through April 2021. But the Trump administration appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which sided with the administration and allowed census field operations to end in mid-October. An appellate court suspended the judge’s order on the deadline for the numbers to be used for congressional representation. That issue is still being litigated.
Frankly, the most major thing that could dissapoint from a Biden administration has nothing to do with race or even necessarily climate change (He won't fix it, but he can alleviate the effect instead of going pedal to the medal), but healthcare. A lot of Americans WANT Medicare For All, and I don't know if the public option that Biden has planned will be enough or even necessarily happen.
Swiss news havw dug up this article
about Jill Biden praising Switzerland's apprenticeship system and are now wondering if she might use her function as First Lady-elect to propagate something similar in the US.
FYI -
Qanon is about to disintegrate.
https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/11/06/qanon-coping-trump-likely-loss-where-is-q/
Qanon followers are wondering what the hell is going on with Q (Who doesn't exist but has con men who post in his name) since he hasn't posted since the election. Also, you know, all of his predictions about the election failed to come true along with every other.
That's because, and this article doesn't mention it, Q is the product of a group of con men that took an internet fanfiction game (I know because I was there at 4chan when it was created) and then marketed it as real. Because PT Barnum was right about humanity.

Huge numbers of Q boards are having people slowly but surely debate the possibility that, yes, they may have been suckered. Some of the complaints are terrible like, "My wife and kid left me because of this. I don't have anything else!"

I hope this doesn't sound too condescending, but I feel bad for them. It really isn't their fault they didn't have the means to know better.

My musician pagePerhaps to be too condescending, my pity for them is the same as you'd feel for a rabid dog.

Biden no doubt wants his Biden to be a Biden to his Obama. So he'll task his Biden with a lot of duties and the power they require to be a capable Biden.
