Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Coincidence that I was watching a video about the 2000 elections when this happened.
It's like this year's election is the inverse of 2000.

It's official, several news websites have declared Biden the victor and the votes gap in Pennsylvania unsurmountable for Trump.
Somewhat appropriately, Biden was first elected to Congress 48 years ago on this day.

Now it's really just a question of how many other states he wins. GA flipping is unlikely since recounts barely change anything and Biden's lead is up by thousands, AZ is narrow but Trump is just slightly under the margin he needs from the last ballots in Maricopa. The remaining ballots according to Nate Silver aren't necessarily going to favor Trump, although we don't know yet.
x2 It's official: Biden is President-Elect.
We just gotta get 2 of 4 Senate Contests to get a 50-50 Senate; North Carolina, Alaska, and the 2 Georgia Run Offs. Without the Senate Biden is basically beholden to Republican Interests, and would have to rule by Executive Order which would still limit his abilities.
Yeah, the democrats have to start campaigning in Georgia right now because it's a big uphill battle.
Also, stacey abrams should honestly become head of the DNC assuming she wants the job, she clearly knows something about how to get people to vote
Yes. There are other problems but as far as Trump himself is concerned, he's only a problem now until January 20th.

It won't be over until America, as a country and as a people, have well and truly rejected Trumpism and Fascism, and even then, as the past decade has shown, there's no guarantee that Those Assholes won't try this shit again or that they won't succeed at doing so. But at least the country has earned a respite from the non-stop horror show.
Someone did tell me life was going to be this way.I bet Biden and Harris used this song for their "Keep the Faith" slogan. Which is a Woo! 💙
ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔|I DO COMMISSIONS|ᜇᜎᜈ᜔ᜇᜈ᜔The Cult will either:
A) Realize that they aren't actually "Republicans" or "Christians" anymore as they rather defend Trump than Conservative or Religious standards and wake up.
B) Keep lying for themselves and turn on the GOP, calling them "TRAITORS!"
C) "Drink the Kool-Aid."
D) Spread destruction.
E) Get very confused for the next four years and enact in acts of terrorism as "vengeance" against democratic establishments.
One thing for certain, they won't go back to "normal" any time soon.

Honestly, if Fox News plays it right the Republicans could actually get out far ahead on impeachment.
