Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Not that his behavior on Twitter...or anywhere really...was particularly stable. But yeah, this is quite the Villainous Breakdown.
Disgusted, but not surprisedI have Trump blocked on Twitter. My mental health doesn't need exposure to that garbage. I'll just take other people's word for it.

No. Don't ever say something like that. Try it again and you'll be banned.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"In any case, those runoffs in Georgia I would say are almost as important as this election long-term.
Because if the democrats can at least tie, then Mc Connell becomes significantly less of a problem, especially if they give statehood to DC meaning two guaranteed democratic senators, which means republicans have to fight a lot harder to have control of the senate.
Yes. We need Democratic Leaders in Georgia from Today until the Run Off Elections in January, campaigning for Ossoff and Warnock every day and every night. We can pull off a miracle and get them both elected, especially since Trump has lost and there's no way he's gonna try to help Perdue or Loeffler.
We can get 50-50 but we gotta work hard.
I actually think in the case of a tied Senate Joe Manchin might vote to remove the filibuster. Imagine the enormous power that'd give him. And he's got to see the writing on the wall. 2018 was probably his last reelection.
100% definitely.
Yep. Historically Democrats have seen quite a drop off in turnout in runoffs. People need to be down in Georgia to prevent that from happening.

I would much rather the democrats be beholden to what Manchin wants than Mc Connell, without question.
Remember that Alaska has counted zero mail-in-ballots, also both the North Carolina seat and the Alaska seat (alongside the Colorado seat Dems just flipped) were won by Dems in 2008, then lost in 2014, so they're historically very swingy seats.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranThis is probably a weird spot to put this, but here's an uplifting quote from Bob Ross for those of you who are upset that Biden didn't win in a landslide, amidst other setbacks.
"Gotta have opposites, light and dark and dark and light, in painting. It's like in life. Gotta have a little sadness once in awhile so you know when the good times come. I'm waiting on the good times now."
Damn, I think I missed an interesting post.
Now all we need is this to finish the election off:

Alaska isn't swingy. Begich's success was a result of Ted Stevens being convicted and being unable to campaign effectively at a time when people cared about sticking one's hand in the cookie jar.

It's weird. I never wanted to live in Biblical times but we have a cult to the monarch supplanting the local religion, idolatry, fires, floods, plague, and a righteous overthrow of the corrupt sexually immoral dictator.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Does the Bible have anything to say on how the cultists are dealt with after the monarch is deposed?

X2 Personally, I’m partial to Psalm 58:
No, in your heart you devise injustice, and your hands mete out violence on the earth.
Even from birth the wicked go astray; from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.
Their venom is like the venom of a snake, like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears, that will not heed the tune of the charmer, however skillful the enchanter may be.
Break the teeth in their mouths, O God; Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions! Let them vanish like water that flows away; when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.
May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along, like a stillborn child that never sees the sun.

Looking up reactions from foreign leaders. Boris Johnson and his government are leaning very hard into "No comment." on anything Trump says.
Netanyahu is apparently crossing his fingers that his long relationship with Biden will smooth over the acrimony of the Obama years. And apparently their line regarding annexation is going to be "We never said we were going to do that."

Watching Trump lose his bloody mind on Twitter, while his card house collapses around him is incredibly satisfying, not gonna lie.
