Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothesDark fact on that Wyoming number, only 64% of black Wyoming’s can vote, so as a collective they have 3 (well 3.2) 5ths of the voting power they should have...

It's an understandable mistake
There are two lawsuits: one which was thrown out by the Texas Supreme Court and another currently being heard in a US District Court, which is what Fourth Spartan is referring to.
I think the same groups are suing in both cases, though.
Exactly, it's looking like the Federal case will go the same route as the state one.
Which is excellent.

I would expect drive-thru voting to be ended, but no votes being thrown out.

Wonder how long before Trump calls them traitors.
Actually, I can see this being a sign of things to come. Trump will tell people to fix the election, but they won't, which will lead to Trump getting angry at them. I'd love for something like this to drive a wedge between Trump and the Republican party as a whole.

Occasionally there are actual believers in Right W Ing ideologies.
And define it as other than, "Whatever makes us win."

My brain is still trying to process the words “Democratic-leaning Houston”. I’d heard Austin was comparatively progressive, but Houston? I thought Houston was Oilville.
Barr and this guy are both people I wouldn't have dinner with but both of them seem to have realized that absolute loyalty to Trump is not going to end well for them. Too bad Barr already did horrifying crimes for him.

That data point is worth considering I think. If those people bothered to pay enough attention to the midterms to vote, there's no way most of them are not going to vote in this election.
