Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

But being calm and reassuring doesn't boost ratings, so they won't get as much money. I feel like they're going to regret this decision.

Oh, that's the subject of Steven Seagal's novel
! (This is a link to a Cracked article about it, not the actual novel. The article is hysterical, I promise.)

I'm sorry: are you accusing network executives of having morals and ethics? They'd be very offended.
The one who causes the problems first could have lawsuits, and the government breathing down their necks. It's not a matter of ethics and morals, so much as it is knowing that somebody is going to go straight for the (metaphorical) kill if you're the first one to cause problems, especially this year.

Florida and Georgia should have results on election night even if it's late. Arizona and North Carolina should have the bulk of the results on election night but it might take a while for everything to be counted, so if it's a close race we might have to wait as absentee ballots are counted. If results are close in Florida it might also take a while (god forbid we don't have al gore vs bush 2.0 again in the exact same place).

Are you guys seeing some of these excuses for that bus fiasco in Texas? Apparently all those trucks with Trump flags were a harmless "civillian" escort just trying to make sure the campaigners got where they were going. Of course if you watch the video, you can see those vehicles were being anything but safe.
Just Having FunGood thing Biden already has a legal team ready.

Apparently a number of network executives have committed themselves to be careful and reassuring during the pandemic, stressing that the election may not be decided in one night as more votes need to be counted.
