The General US Politics Thread

Go To

Nov 2023 Mod notice:

There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.

If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines before posting here.

Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.

If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules when posting here.

In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Trump seems like he was going to use a much worse word to refer to the people who turn up for their asylum appointments.

Biden is now talking about race, he’s doing well, talking about how he didn’t have to teach his daughter how to avoid getting shot by cops.

Trump's back to claiming he's done more for black people than anyone, even Lincoln.

He's fallen completely back on old talking points.

God Trump's pouting while Biden's talking. He's like a child. He's back to claiming Biden's done nothing in 47 years. But Biden called the black community 'super-predators'. No-one's done more for black communities than Trump.

And now Trump is claiming that nobody has done more for the black community except maybe Lincoln. Maybe.

Trump is now saying that he’s been the best president for African Americans, with the possible exception of Abraham Lincoln.

Trump going back to the laptop.

[up]Frankly it's nowhere near as bad as last debate.

I can't tell if this debate is less of a shitshow than the first one, or an even bigger shitshow. Either way, glad I'm skipping it.

And Trump just made up a new thing, claiming a Biden connection to Iraq and then he’s bought up the laptop directly. Biden is pushing back and saying that the entire thing is a Russian hoax.

Biden wants a fundamental change: no mandatory minimums.

Trump: you did nothing four years ago. I ran because of you!

Biden's response: direct to the camera: compare us both. You know who we are.

Trump's pissed. Biden's not an innocent baby, he's got the laptop from hell!

Biden's insisted on responding: The FBI has stated it's a Russia disinformation. 'It's garbage'. Trump is absolutely furious. 'That's where you're going? Russia? Russia! Russia! Russia!'

Trump's Pigs in a Blanket Story is something someone else must have wrote. Its bullshit but its a coherent bit of political theater.

Its also disgusting.

And Trump is back to claiming that he’s the least racist person in the room.

Biden has just called Trump one of the most racist people ever, “A dog whistle as big as a foghorn”.

Did Biden watch the Angry Biden by Jim Carey? This is pretty similar to the SNL skit where Biden is just seconds away from strangling Trump.
