Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

The βbat lightβ endorsement also made an appearance on Wrigley Field, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Chicago Theatre during its time in the city.

~Nerevarine While this sentiment is understandable it's worth keeping in mind that high polls causing complacency has never been empirically proven. If anything it could increase enthusiasm and thus turnout.
Edit:
So... is this post not signaling them? How does this system even work?

"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangUse the following characters in sequence, without spaces. I can't escape them because the code butchers them.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"The sequence @ / TroperName creates a link to Tropers/TroperName. It's a shorthand that existed long before we added the paging character. This whole site is a bastardized agglomeration of code that only barely works.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Hopefully this hasn't been posted yet, this thread has been moving quite fast recently.
I get this warm and fuzzy feeling in a Pv P match where you suddenly realize that for once its the enemy team thats starting to flame and insult each other to their detriment.
"You can reply to this Message!"I predicted this might happen. Now that Trump's re-election seems anything but a sure thing, Republicans are starting to jump ship and throw Trump under the bus en masse. Expect the whole party to turn against him soon. And Fox will likely follow soon after as well.
Why yes, Republicans are fair weather friends... just like Trump, and most of his cronies.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves, the base hasn't gone anywhere. Ten to one those politicians are either in purple states or have a power base that's more independent of the party (a la Romney).
The only time the party abandoning Trump becomes plausible is if we start seeing hard evidence of the average Republican voter rejecting him.
"Einstein would turn over in his grave. Not only does God play dice, the dice are loaded." -Chairman Sheng-Ji YangIt's a little premature to say that the GOP is, as a whole, going to leave Trump. What we have now is what's always existed - behind-the-doors or periodic grumbling about his style, or "concern" from the likes of Collins, Murkowski, or Sasse.

Cornyn says he broke with Trump on deficit, border wall, but kept opposition private
I am overwhelmed by the courage shown by Sen. Cornyn.

I live with my parents and brother, all of whom are considered essential workers. If I'm going to get it, I'm going to get it regardless if I stay home or not. All we can do is wear a mask while out, keep our distance from others, and hope for the best.
