There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

But look at all the times Romney has changed his positions over and over again on various issues. Gun control, abortion, campaign finance reform, whether or not we should've let the auto industry go bankrupt, whether or not we need to massively increase the military budget, whether or not global warming is real... or what about when Obama changed from a an idealistic up and coming candidate into a broken shell of a man who was torn down by the political machine?
There's so much change going on that it's hard to keep track of it sometimes.

Romney's change is a lot different from Obama's change. Romney hasn't even been in office in years, but he keeps changing positions to court voters in a very, very cynical way. Obama has basically been faced with the reality of running a goddamn nation.

"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." Twitterand no matter how many times it's posted, I can never catch that button :(
"Never let the truth get in the way of a good story." TwitterI really, really think alot of people are underestimating Obama. No, this is not a "lesser of two evils" election. Obama is a pretty damn good candidate, in my opinion. His solution was the best anyone had to offer, and it's helped us recover from what the Bush administration did to us.
Someone said something about still pointing out the Bush administration. "It's been four years!" Well, we're going to feel effects from each president's decision until the day we die. Everything a president does shifts the country, and no decision fades away without leaving a noticeable impression on each and every person in this nation.
It's not easy to keep every promise; welcome to fucking reality. Welcome to the real world. That's how it goes every presidential election. Not every president can keep their promises. Especially when they're just one man. Obama does not have the power of some king. He's just a President, and in the grand scheme of things, he doesn't really have all that much power.
For example, many people blame him on gas prices, when he has nothing to do with those goddamn prices.
The point is, no candidate is perfect, but you don't need to point it out. One, it's obvious, and two, it gives the wrong people more reason to say why Obama wouldn't make a good president. And the thing is, he would. He would make a really good president.
Romney may not turn this country into hell, but I'm going to assure you, he'll be hated ten times more than Bush Jr was when he left office. Our nation's well being, and moral progression, is at stake here, and voting for Third Parties that don't have any chance or not voting at all is not helping at all.
Voting for Obama just because Romney is such a bastard might not sound all that wonderful, but the sad reality is the country cannot afford him. We cannot afford him.
Obama is a good man, and if I could, I sure as hell would vote him into office again. I'm proud to call that man my president; despite the bad decisions he has made, despite all of that, he's done a pretty damn good job so far.
If I can find my Obama button, I'll be wearing it with pride all over my school today.

It's not just something that is unique to the US: David Cameron has the same problems. Although, due to our c.70+% amount of tax on our fuel, the Government can do something on prices, and there is an anti-Trust* Investigation into the Industry*. Moreover, due to the party he belongs to, he's blamed for things that happened during The '80s.

Keep Rolling OnConservatives attack Katherine Fenton (woman who asked about equal pay)
Classy. >_>
They have been calling foul that the question were all from democrats, so they say.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXkI1sTDoEgI didn't watch the debate — was busy last night, but from the posts here and the media coverage I'd say that Obama satisfied demands to come out swinging. I'm going to watch Stewart and Colbert talk about it tonight, of course. But it seems that if the "liberal" outlets are calling it for Obama and Fox is whining about how rude he was, it's definitely a point hung up on his scoreboard.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"

I mostly debate because I want a summary of points the other side has to offer so I can come up with a more complete conclusion.
