Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

This is... a development:
For those not willing or able to watch (don't blame you): he's insisting that the hospital stay was an abundance of caution and not necessary, or implying that it was a solidarity thing, one or the other. He's saying regeneron caused an immediate uptick in his health and he's trying to authorize the treatment to be distributed for free to hospitals across the country. Not sure about how FDA testing will tie into it...
He's also saying that a vaccine will be available "right after the election" and that it would be available before the election but "politics" are getting in the way or something. And insisting that China will "pay a big price" for "what they've done to the world."
Bullshit aside he seems fairly healthy in this video.

Let's say that it does become that "miracle" drug to fight COVID, people are gonna take it regardless on how they feel about Trump. Yeah, it'll suck that they are taking meds from a guy that basically destroyed everyone's lives, but I don't think people want to die from COVID just to spite Trump. Same reasoning with the stimulus checks; you don't like that it came from a shitheel, but for many, they were in a position where they really did need that money.
Remember, these idiots drive, fuck, and vote. Not always in that order. You're overlooking the main thing they feel about Trump; they feel he's a liar. After 4 years of lying those people aren't going to just suddenly accept that this time he's telling the truth and the drug isn't going to hurt them.
Very well could be that the drugs are suppressing the worst signs of the disease (at the expense of Trump's already limited impulse control). Now, we can't say if they will keep the disease in check until it passes, or if the conditions worsens over time (as COVID as be known to do).
Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.![]()
Here, officials declare cases "resolved" if no symptoms of the disease occur after 10 straight days, and there are several negative tests.
Man, the worst part about the CNN debate coverage is that they've got goddamn Rick Santorum as their token Republican talking head. Can't stand that guy. Then again, all the remotely decent Republicans/ex-Republicans have remained neutral if not declared for Biden at this stage.
In yet more good polling/projection news: CNN's model has shown, for the first time, Biden getting 270+ Electoral Votes with Solid and Leaning Democratic states alone.

Politics is the skilled use of blunt objects.I'm watching the debate on Crooked Media
, where a bunch of former Obama officials and some others stream it on Twitch while making comments and criticisms. It's pretty fun actually.
538 is also doing their usual live reactions.
Thought: What if instead of Kamala, Biden comes out and says, "You didn't say which VP!"

Yeah, "Tupac ain't dead" is a huge inside joke among rap fans
