Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Just because I actually noticed it's an op-ed doesn't mean I'm too "hung up" on it.
It's also not exactly news - it was announced five days ago.

Disgusted, but not surprisedWe might have a reason behind Trump's freakout this evening: the FBI is holding a virtual press conference over national security reasons tomorrow at 11 am EDT.
Also, every major alt-right/Republican is attacking the FBI this evening. This is likely not good for them.

"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Which probably will help Trump a tiny bit.
So. That, to me, sounds like exactly the kind of bad decision you'd make when you're addled on medication. Forgetting the difference between lies and truth, and dragging up grievances from years ago.
And it is, to me, noticeably distinct from Trump's normal. Trump has spent the last 3.5 years trying his best to bury everything related to the Russian Investigation. Suddenly changing his tune at such an inopportune moment strikes me as a sign of an altered mental state. Like maybe he read somebody on Twitter saying 'if he's innocent, why doesn't he want us to see what's in those documents' or something like that and currently has even less self-control and ability to think things through than normal.

It's not a likely thing. In part because he's got access to way better medical care than pretty much everyone else on Earth.
I'm pretty sure most people don't have ready access to steroids, experimental drug cocktails, remdesivir (it's not exactly cheap), etc.
Yeah, Trump's on drugs. Like, all the drugs. Forget his tax returns, I want to see his toxicology report.

Disgusted, but not surprised
I'm still trying to figure out how much of his recent... well, everything is due to the steroids and how much was is Trump being Trump.
I think at least one comedian asked "Are we sure he wasn't already taking those?"

We learn from history that we do not learn from history

It is partially a news article. It talks about a new feature on Facebook. How is that not news?
I think you're getting a little hung up on the "op-ed" header.
To be honest, I'm not really sure why it is labelled as such when it is talking about actual news.
