Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

No.
He's not spitting loogies into envelopes and mailing them to Democratic voters unless they flip and vote for him.
Criminally negligent? Sure.
Bio-terrorism? No.
You don't need to make shit up to make him sound worse / scarier than he is.
He's bad enough on his own merits.

Agreed, being irresponsible is not the same as being actively malicious.
So Trump is not a bio-terrorist. Lets focus on the crimes he does commit, rather than making spurious accusations that wouldn't hold up in a court of law.

Hope shines brightest in the darkest timesBiden’s lead is widening. Hard to tell how much is the debate and how much is Trump’s reaction to having COVID, but it’s widened from about 7 points to nearly 9:

I had thought the NBC/WSJ poll that had him up by 14 was just a big outlier (most others were in the 8-11 range), but today CNN also has him up by 15-16. Those are probably still at the high end (other polls conducted in October still say +8), but there’s definitely been an increase.
I still don’t trust the midwest (Biden’s polling leads there are similar to or lower than what Hillary was showing in 2016 polls: i.e., 5-6 points), but this is a good sign.

I think it's more due to Trump's illness and his reaction to it than the debate. Reactions to the debate largely fell along partisan lines, but that doesn't seem to be the case for Trump getting sick.
It probably doesn't help that he is putting Republicans in danger more than anything else.
