Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

The question is which scenario are we scapegoating Charles for? The treatment working or the treatment not working?
Clearly Trump was following my tweets.
But yes, giving it this early is weird, especially after their experimental treatment.

Here's a letter from his doctor on a confirmed account.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Ya know... A week ago, the Netherlands finally realized that Yes, we are in the middle of a second wave because we reduced safety measures too early.
At the same time, the situation in the US was finally starting to get a little better.
And I remember thinking to myself 'Oh hell... A month from now we're going to exceed the US in per capita new cases and deaths.'
I'm searching my apartment for a monkey's paw with one curled up finger, is what I'm saying.

No.
This shows what happens when you follow the rules and what happens when they aren't followed.
Trump and his goons brought this down upon themselves when they ignored masks, held super-spreader events, and tried to discredit all efforts to fight the pandemic at every turn, and open the country up non-stop during its lockdown.
What happened?
"The Masque of Red Death" happened.
And now they will pay for it.
I don't honestly expect much from this other than perhaps a few being incapacitated for a couple of weeks and even then. Unlike the vast majority of Americans, they will receive the best healthcare and attention in the world because they're the elite.
And this is the exact thing they're wanting to deny others.
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Sure, they receive the best of healthcare but that didn't stop Herman Cain from dying.
It didn't stop him from tweeting as well, sure, but Twitter being able to let the restless spirits of the dead use it as a platform should be lauded rather than criticized.

Trump is already at a disadvantage by being both old and in poor physical health. By the reports we've seen he's also experiencing worse symptoms than his wife. And like
said Herman Cain also got great medical attention yet still died.
Even if Trump does recover there is a long list of reported long-term health effects to contend with.
If there's one thing I learned from all of this, it's that many Americans take the concept of individual freedom a bit too literally. Like Trump and the GOP, these anti maskers and Qultists want to do whatever they please but don't want to be held accountable for their actions in fear of looking weak.
After all, if these fucktards still deny its existence or don't want to take precautions even after their messiah gets down with it pretty bad, then I'm convinced America's stupidity and selfishness epidemic is far more dangerous and widespread than any contagious disease.
Scaled seekerTrump hasn't been taking care of himself, is old, and also is under a lot of stress. So, yeah, even in-context, he's in a pretty bad situation. I expect him to live, but this might actually be pretty detrimental.
Leviticus 19:34Just a reminder everyone, if Trump kicks the bucket, we can't add that as a Real Life example of And There Was Much Rejoicing.

The Hill:
ICE launching billboard campaign highlighting 'at-large immigration violators'
The unprecedented campaign, taking place in one of the nation's most hotly contested swing states, will highlight immigrants who were released by local law enforcement under so-called sanctuary policies and ICE says, "may pose a public safety threat."
ICE is basing its campaign on the claim that local agencies "fail to honor immigration detainers" it issues and release "serious criminal offenders," in turn hindering its efforts to protect the public.
About why only Trump's staff seems to have been affected, I suspect Air Force One had a lot to do with that, with people being in close proximity in a closed air system. That studio, in contrast, was much larger, practically empty, and presumably well ventilated, while Wallace and Biden kept proper distance.
And as mentioned before, just being near someone infected does not guarantee you will get it too. They could just have been lucky.
Is being taken to the Walter Reed Army Medical Center a bad thing? From your reactions I gather it is.
