Nov 2023 Mod notice:
There may be other, more specific, threads about some aspects of US politics, but this one tends to act as a hub for all sorts of related news and information, so it's usually one of the busiest OTC threads.
If you're new to OTC, it's worth reading the Introduction to On-Topic Conversations
and the On-Topic Conversations debate guidelines
before posting here.
Rumor-based, fear-mongering and/or inflammatory statements that damage the quality of the thread will be thumped. Off-topic posts will also be thumped. Repeat offenders may be suspended.
If time spent moderating this thread remains a distraction from moderation of the wiki itself, the thread will need to be locked. We want to avoid that, so please follow the forum rules
when posting here.
In line with the general forum rules, 'gravedancing' is prohibited here. If you're celebrating someone's death or hoping that they die, your post will get thumped. This rule applies regardless of what the person you're discussing has said or done.

Have to say the absolute glee on Biden's face when Trump did that was a thing of genuine beauty
PSN ID: FateSeraph | Switch friendcode: SW-0145-8835-0610 Congratulations! She/They@FOFD and Physical Stamina — I'd settle for muting mics during the period when each participant is supposed to have two uninterrupted minutes to respond to the moderator's question. Maybe early in the debate allow the mics open, because an interjection once or twice might provide some insight; but give that person two strikes and then mute them throughout the other's response.

Perhaps its not strategic, but its certainly human, and I cannot hold Biden in contempt for still caring for his dead son.
Agreed.
Also, from a cold-hearted perspective, it could be electorally useful to show emotion over the death of a loved one.

Yeah, that's what my initial post was trying to say. After each question Biden and Trump are each supposed to get time to give their response, and that time is just for themselves, so mute the other person.

"Antifa's an idea, not an organization."
Thank you, Biden.
Bringing up Hillary Clinton for some reason. Just playing all the hits tonight.
