They pretty much do. They're the type of people who take "America is number 1" absolutely seriously, and any proof to the contrary wrecks their worldview, so they have to make sure they're number 1, in any way possible. They'll either cling to something that states they are number 1, even if it's clearly a lie, and yell it on the rooftops until everyone believes them, or they'll want to destroy the thing that is better than them.
Democratic insiders set up 'war room' to kill the filibuster
A coalition of Democratic Party operators, activists, and prominent ex-Senators are getting together to push for a campaign to repeal the filibuster and end our legislative gridlock. It's quite gratifying to see well-connected people like this pushing for sensible solutions like this. I doubt its removal will be guaranteed but with Obama coming out against it and this news I think the filibuster's days may very well be numbered.
Suffice to say this is wonderful news and if we can take the Senate this suggests a very real possibility of substantive change.

https://apnews.com/35a881fb3e95ff8421efe57d05a5c374
President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign told The Associated Press on Saturday that Pence’s schedule had been changed, but the campaign did not provide a reason or say whether the fundraiser might be held at a later time. The change comes after the AP reported Wednesday that hosts Cayrn and Michael Borland in Bozeman, Montana, had shared QAnon memes and retweeted posts from QAnon accounts.
The baseless conspiracy theory alleges Trump is battling an entrenched bureaucracy and sex trafficking ring run by pedophiles.
Three Republicans seeking election in Montana also had been scheduled to attend the fundraiser: U.S. Sen. Steve Daines, who faces a November challenge from Democratic Gov. Steve Bullock; U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte, a Republican running for governor; and state auditor Matt Rosendale, a candidate for the U.S. House.
Pence, Daines and the other Republican candidates are still scheduled to hold a campaign rally Monday afternoon in Belgrade, just east of Bozeman.
Daines campaign spokesperson Julia Doyle said the first-term senator does not know the Borlands nor “does he know what QAnon even is.” She referred questions on whether the event would be rescheduled to the Trump campaign.
The Borlands have donated over $220,000 to Trump’s reelection bid, the bulk of which was made in Caryn Borland’s name, and they were guests at the national GOP convention last month.
The QAnon narrative has grown to include other long-standing conspiracy theories, gaining traction among some extreme Trump supporters. The movement is often likened to a right-wing cult. Some followers have run for office, primarily in the Republican Party, though some have been independent or run as third-party candidates. Trump has refused to say QAnon is false.
Pence has said it’s a conspiracy theory and last month told CBS, “I don’t know anything about QAnon, and I dismiss it out of hand.”″
The Borlands have shared multiple QAnon social media posts, as well as other discredited conspiracies.
Michael Borland prominently featured several QAnon “Q” logos on his Facebook page. Caryn Borland has retweeted or engaged with QAnon Twitter accounts. In April, she responded to a pro-Trump Tweet from a QAnon account by replying “Always” with a praying hands emoji.
The Borlands did not immediately return telephone messages Saturday seeking comment.

So apparently, Trump has seen a boost from his law and order pivot, but Biden still holds higher positions due to opinions on being able to unify and handle protests. Thoughts?
My thought is that I wish people would stop posting hot takes based on a single poll.
For an actually polling update I’d suggest 538’s regular one, they note that while both Biden and Trump have seen convention bounces only Biden has seen his favourability go up, he’s actually net-positive now, though only just.[1]
Or just use the election forecast
. Covers any recent changes.
There was a note a few days ago about how Trump's law and order rhetoric hadn't budged the polls.
I’ll remind people that if you have concerns about a pattern of behaviour by a user you can contact the mods about it, either via PM or via a holler which explains that you’ve noticed what may be a problematic pattern of behaviour.
“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranYeah, I'm going to deal with that. Just posting about unfavorable polling is not contributing positively to this topic.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"To make something constructive it of this, the article didn't say Trump saw a boost in poll numbers, it said he is seeing success in making "Law and Order" and related matters important subjects for voters.
The catch is that despite that, and people believing untrue statements about Biden, he is still leading because people still trust Biden more on all those issues Trump is attacking him on.
I actually linked to a similar poll a few days ago.
Yeah the Law & Order push is hurting Trump, because more Americans trust Biden to keep them safe than trust Trump to keep them safe.

“And the Bunny nails it!” ~ Gabrael “If the UN can get through a day without everyone strangling everyone else so can we.” ~ CyranGoing back to that Pence article, I wonder how this Q Anon thing is going to end. We're probably going to see a ton of (absolutely baseless) accusations of [Insert Democrat Here] being a pedophile by late October.
Just Having FunNutcase conspiracy theory movements always exist, but they need a platform to spread and grow, and that platform has been provided by Trump and Fox News. Without that, they'll wither.

"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Speaking of Fox News, I wonder what their future will be during a Biden presidency. They've pushed their entire identity on being grossly anti-Democrat and acting as a propaganda machine for the Republicans, would the Dems have grounds to... Not dismantle them, really, but force them to stop being such raging bigots and liars?
Edited by Resileafs on Sep 12th 2020 at 6:36:38 AM
There are two sides to that. One, Fox has become so virulent over the past four years in part because of its policy of licking Trump's toes. With him gone, it might slide back a bit. However, Fox has also been captured by the same extremist forces it panders to, so it might just double down on attacking everything Democrat. Hard to say.
Either way, it has been firmly established that Fox has the First Amendment right to say anything it wants. About the only way that could be stopped would be with a reinstatement of the Fairness Doctrine. I have no idea if a Biden administration or a Biden-led Congress would consider that a priority.

Sadly, I don’t think we have the means to pass hate speech laws. Even with a senate majority and an abolished filibuster, the first amendment is too immovable for now. I can’t think of any other route either.
